Senior Layout Designer/Industrial Engineer (41300)

Responsible for

• Develop detailed layout designs for semiconductor equipment installations within fab and cleanroom environments
• Collapse space planning, tool placement, and workflow optimization to maximize efficiency and throughput
• Coordinate with facilities, process, equipment, and construction teams to align layout designs with operational requirements
• Ensure compliance with cleanroom standards, safety regulations, and facility constraints (e.g., utilities, structural, and environmental)
• Produce and maintain layout drawings, 3D models, and installation documentation
• Support tool move-in, installation planning, and ramp-up activities
• Identify and resolve layout conflicts, including utility routing, clearance issues, and access requirements
• Contribute to continuous improvement of layout standards and best practices

Requirements

• Senior designers typically function as the lead designer often tasked with large areas, entire buildings, or major systems in semiconductor and other support facilities
• Lead designers often find themselves having a multi-person designer support team
• Designers at this level are considered highly capable, multi-faceted, reliable, efficient, high-speed, and self-reliant team members
• The incumbent has experience in multiple subject areas and detailed knowledge of the systems required
• Designers at this level will be adept in final checking the design effort within their realm in preparation for final documentation
• Senior designers are assumed to have mastery of design standards and principles

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Studies, Computer Drafting and Design, similar area of focus, or on the job experience
• Experience in industrial building design and semiconductor or related high tech type facilities
• Proven track record of successful design delivery; multiple project success with a variety of scopes and clients with recommendation of supervisor acknowledging track record
• Preferred qualifications include experience with 3D modeling and clash detection tools, knowledge of semiconductor tool requirements and installation processes, familiarity with safety and regulatory standards in high-tech manufacturing, and experience 10 - 15+ years

Skills

• Deep knowledge of required discipline subject areas as well as a high familiarity with other subject areas both within architectural layout and other disciplines
• Knowledge of Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, Bluebeam and other modeling and drafting programs necessary in performance of the work required
• Understanding of how your work affects scope, schedule, and budget
• Ability to identify various options to solve technical problems, itemize pros and cons of each option, followed by the presentation of all options and findings to the design team and customer where appropriate
• Ability to firmly grasp the scope of work and provide direction to others ensuring the team is aligned and moving forward
• Understanding and implementation of industry best practices
• Leadership to more junior staff while maintaining a positive attitude and outlook
• Intimate knowledge of codes and standards
• Ability to break a project down into required tasks, assign hours to each task, and provide work estimates to leadership on an as needed basis
• Extensive modeling and drafting experience utilizing Revit and AutoCAD or other programs as necessary
• Extensive model review experience utilizing Navisworks and Bluebeam
• Ability to perform as a project lead designer
• Thorough understanding of discipline requirements and is able to train, lead, and mentor junior staff or staff new to the project

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $80,600.00 to $110,800.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked.

Schedule

Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
