Senior Laboratory Technician

Responsibilities
- Performs routine and non-routine chemical and metallurgical analytical tasks
- May include team lead responsibilities and autonomous interactions within area of expertise
- Prepares samples for analysis/runs tests using appropriate techniques
- Performs sample preparation for quality control program
- Buils bench scale experiments/monitors sample progression under direction of Chemist, Engineer or Supervisor
- Maintains laboratory instrumentation and equipment; diagnoses problems, calibrates and retests as appropriate
- Ensures lab has appropriate supplies for operation
- Serves as group lead to include training and ensuring the performance of group technicians
- Trains laboratory personnel in techniques and use of instrumentation covering scheduling issues, maintain day to day operational schedule
- Provides input and recommendations to Engineers regarding laboratory testing
- Data entry and spreadsheet development for test results
- Performs other duties as required: Laboratory QA/QC, Safety, Hazardous Waste Disposal, and Material Collection
Requirements
- Five (5) years of direct lab experience, OR Associate's of related degree which includes four (4) years of related lab experience
- Demonstrate progressively more responsibility and leadership skills
- Knowledge of and willingness to perform all team lead duties with respect to assignment of tasks and leading daily team operations
- Demonstrated leadership skills with ability to act in absence of Supervisor
- Knowledge of equipment, methods and techniques appropriate to assignment
- Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions and to lead others with regard to proper safety application in all assignments
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Qualifications
- Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
- Communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
- Able to work in a potentially stressful environment
- Work is in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles
- Occasionally may be required to lift, push, pull or maneuver moderately heavy objects (up to 40 pounds) during the course of the workday
- Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required

The estimated pay range for this role is currently $32.00-43.00/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
Employees who are required to work on-site are eligible for a $1,450 monthly housing allowance, provided they meet program guidelines.
