Senior Laboratory Technician

Responsibilities

• Instructing students on the proper use of equipment and operating and maintaining laboratory experiments and equipment
• Aid in coordinating lab usage for classes and course project needs; assist in lab organization and storage
• Build, set up, and provide support for experimental setups, and perform maintenance to ensure the effective operation of laboratory equipment
• Provide assistance for students in the design and implementation of projects, including the use of integrated circuits and microcontrollers
• Maintain and operate laboratory equipment including oscilloscopes, pulse generators, laser cutters, 3D printers, mechanical and electronic instrumentation, and computers interfacing with instrumentation/equipment including CNC mills and lathes
• Maintain laboratory inventories and order replacement supplies as well as coordinate billing for lab materials
• Interface with student clubs regarding project design

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in a scientific discipline
• Minimum three (3) years of experience in a research environment
• Strongly prefer a bachelor’s degree in a related field, including mechanical engineering or electrical engineering
• Strongly prefer mechatronics, robotics, and mentoring experience
• Must be familiar with microcontrollers, programming, and soldering equipment
