Responsibilities
- Participate in conceptual design and provide sustained technical and design support through all project phases.
- Develop and represent the lead technical viewpoint on assigned projects, coordinating with the Project Architect and Project Manager on design decisions and strategies.
- Cookinate with consultants (structural, MEP, civil, landscape) to integrate engineering systems with design intent.
- Prepare and oversee construction documents with attention to design quality, code compliance, and built outcomes.
- Navigate city entitlement, permitting, and plan check processes; respond to agency comments.
- Support construction administration, including RFI responses, submittals, and site observation as needed.
- Manage and maintain project BIM models and drawing standards in collaboration with the broader project team.
- Mentor junior staff and support their growth in both design thinking and technical skills.
- Maintain awareness of evolving building technology, materials, and sustainable design practices.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of post-graduate architecture experience, with a track record of contributing across multiple project phases on multi-family residential or similar project types.
- Ability to develop and represent technical and design viewpoints with confidence — a subject matter expert who can engage meaningfully with architects, consultants, and contractors.
- Experience with California state and local building codes, Title 24, accessibility requirements, and the local permitting process.
- Familiarity with Revit, ACAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite; experience with BIM coordination workflows.
- Strong communication skills — verbal and visual — with the ability to work effectively with the internal team, consultants, contractors, and city agencies.
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and focused. We look for people who are independent thinkers while still being team players.
- Accredited architectural degree (BArch or MArch); demonstrated progress toward licensure is a plus.
- Fluent in English.
Pay
$100,000 - $125,000 annually
