We’re looking for a high caliber professional to join our Cross Asset Margin technology team in Jersey City, NJ. This team develops and enhances strategic systems and services that are regulatory-driven and directly impact how Citi Capital Markets manages market and counterparty credit risks. Responsibilities include calculating margin requirements for OTC bilateral derivatives and optimizing client margin requirements by considering offsets across financial products using models like VaR, SIMM, and Credit Stress. The role supports traders, salespeople, risk managers, financial controllers, and operations staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expertise in applications programming and ensure application design adheres to the overall architecture blueprint.
  • Utilize advanced knowledge of system flow and develop standards for coding, testing, debugging, and implementation.
  • Develop comprehensive knowledge of how business areas, such as architecture and infrastructure, integrate to accomplish business goals.
  • Guide the team to establish design standards, improving efficiency of development workflow and product rollout.
  • Take ownership of smooth Production release planning and execution.
  • Oversee software quality and system modifications.
  • Serve as advisor or coach to mid-level developers and analysts, allocating work as necessary.
  • Analyze existing operations to identify risks and redundancies.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to develop solutions.
  • Liaise with team members and management to ensure projects meet application development and governance standards.
  • Keep up-to-date with industry trends and developments.
  • Resolve high-impact problems through in-depth evaluation of complex business processes, system processes, and industry standards.
  • Appropriately assess risk when making business decisions, demonstrating consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment, and escalating control issues with transparency.

Qualifications

  • 6-10 years of relevant experience in an Applications Development role with hands-on coding.
  • Demonstrated thought leadership in designing complex and distributed systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of Java, Spring, Kafka, and Distributed Cache/Systems (e.g., Apache Ignite).
  • Hands-on experience with relational databases like Oracle.
  • Experience with microservices architecture.
  • API-first design thinking and implementation.
  • Experience building applications on cloud platforms such as Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines.
  • Proven implementation of design patterns and enterprise-level architecture.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • UI tech stack knowledge is an advantage.
  • Understanding of risks (Greeks), risk calculation models like VaR/SIMM, and ability to work with Quant teams is preferred.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent; master’s degree preferred.

Pay

$142,320.00 - $213,480.00. In addition to salary, eligible employees may receive discretionary and formulaic incentive and retention awards.
