Senior IT Systems Engineer
The Work
- Infrastructure & Systems Management:
- Design, implement, and maintain enterprise IT infrastructure including network, server, cloud (AWS/Azure), and end-user computing environments
- Manage Microsoft 365 product suite including Microsoft Teams & SharePoint
- Administer and optimize Okta / Entra ID (formerly Azure AD), including identity lifecycle management, Conditional Access policies, and MFA enforcement
- Manage network infrastructure including firewalls (Palo Alto), switching (Cisco/Meraki), SD-WAN, and VPN/ZTNA solutions
- Administer virtualization & backup infrastructure, including guest Windows and Linux virtual machines
- Design, configure, and administer AWS environments including core services (EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, Route 53), with a focus on security best practices, least-privilege access, and cost-conscious architecture
- Administer and optimize Microsoft Azure environments, including resource group management, Azure Policy, cost management and budgeting
- Configure, operate, and maintain corporate IT systems including hardware, software, SaaS platforms, and support tooling (e.g. Okta/SSO, SIEM, EDR, vulnerability management)
- Cybersecurity & Risk Reduction:
- Implement and continuously improve security controls across endpoint, identity, network, and cloud layers aligned to frameworks such as CIS Controls, NIST CSF, or SOC 2
- Assess technology risks throughout the company and recommend solutions to support business continuity and data protection
- Support compliance commitments by ensuring systems and processes meet audit requirements; serve as a technical resource during assessments
- SaaS & Business Technology Operations:
- Support the management and optimization of the company's SaaS application portfolio, including procurement, provisioning, access controls, and integrations via SSO (Okta or similar)
- Assess technology needs across business teams and recommend solutions that support growth and operational efficiency
- Partner with IT teammates and business stakeholders to deliver iterative, user-focused improvements to technology systems and support processes
- Collaboration & Escalation Support:
- Provide escalation support to IT teammates, serving as a technical resource for complex issues
- Mentor junior IT staff, helping them develop their technical knowledge, security awareness, and professional skills
- Document and communicate system changes clearly and consistently; maintain up-to-date runbooks and architecture documentation
- Provide excellent customer-oriented service to internal and external stakeholders; act as a trusted technology advisor throughout the company
- Identify, assess, and support current and emerging technology needs for Evolv, recommending enterprise-class solutions that protect the company and its customers
Leadership & Culture
- You will join the IT organization as a direct report to the Senior Director of Cybersecurity & Technology. This is a hands-on, collaborative team that takes security and operational excellence seriously.
- This is a senior individual contributor role focused on deep technical impact — your job is to mature Evolv's IT infrastructure and reduce risk through the systems, controls, and automation you build.
- You'll have meaningful autonomy over how you approach problems and are actively encouraged to bring creative solutions, identify improvement opportunities, and advocate for better ways of working.
- You'll work alongside teammates who share your drive for continuous improvement, and you'll have a manager who values initiative, trusts the team to execute, and wants to hear your ideas.
- This role is engineering-focused — while you may occasionally assist with escalations or cover for teammates, your primary focus is on infrastructure, cybersecurity tooling, and systems that scale with the business.
Location
This role is based out of Evolv HQ in Waltham, Massachusetts. This is a hybrid role with an expectation of 3 days per week on-site. Fully remote candidates will not be considered.
Compensation & Transparency
The base salary range for this full-time position is $120,000-$196,000. In addition to base salary, this role offers a competitive target bonus, equity, and a comprehensive benefits package. This range reflects our commitment to pay transparency and equity, in alignment with applicable state laws. Our compensation ranges are determined based on factors such as role, level, location, market benchmarks, and internal equity. The posted range represents the good-faith estimate of what we expect to pay for this role across U.S. locations. Actual compensation within the range will be based on the candidate's skills, experience, education, and geographic location.
