As the Senior IT Strategic Sourcing Manager, you will lead the development and execution of sourcing strategies for IT categories including software, hardware, cloud services, and professional services. You’ll drive cost optimization, vendor performance, and risk mitigation while ensuring sourcing practices align with Smithfield’s enterprise objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Strategic Sourcing Initiatives: Develop and execute sourcing strategies across IT categories including software, hardware, cloud, and professional services to meet business needs and reduce total cost of ownership.
  • Manage High-Impact Negotiations: Own and lead complex negotiations with top-tier IT vendors, focusing on pricing, service levels, licensing models, and long-term contract terms.
  • Drive Supplier Performance & Compliance: Oversee vendor evaluations, enforce contract compliance, and collaborate with stakeholders to improve supplier accountability and performance metrics.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work with IT, legal, finance, compliance, and business leaders to align sourcing strategies with organizational goals and mitigate risk.
  • Deliver Data-Driven Insights: Use market intelligence, benchmarking, and spend analysis to identify sourcing opportunities, track savings, and support continuous improvement.
  • Optimize Contract Lifecycle Management: Support contract creation, renewals, and amendments while ensuring documentation aligns with sourcing best practices and risk management frameworks.
  • Leadership: Drives a positive employee experience through leadership by way of employee development and coaching.

Requirements

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university and 8+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
  • Leadership & Team Development: 2+ years of demonstrated experience in a leadership role, including team management/development or project leadership.
  • Strategic Sourcing Expertise: Extensive experience utilizing strategic sourcing methodologies across IT categories such as software, hardware, cloud services, and professional services.
  • Negotiation & Contracting Skills: Proven ability to lead complex contract negotiations and read/write contractual language that ensures value, risk mitigation, and supplier accountability.
  • Analytical & Project Management Skills: Strong critical thinking, spend analysis, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Industry Knowledge: Understanding of strategic sourcing techniques including value stream mapping, lean concepts, and procurement optimization strategies.
  • Adaptability & Drive: Ability to thrive in a dynamic, results-driven environment and continuously seek out process improvement opportunities.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel up to 25% to manufacturing plants and vendor locations as needed.

SAP experience strongly preferred.

Pay

The expected pay range for this position is $115,000 - $150,000 annually. Smithfield Foods provides pay ranges that reflect its good faith estimate of the salary or hourly wage the company reasonably expects to pay for a position at the time of hire. Individual compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, location of the position, the candidate’s qualifications and experience, internal equity, external market pay for comparable positions and budget considerations.
