About the role
A skilled and experienced Windows System Administrator to join our contract IT team. The ideal candidate will have 5–7 years of hands-on experience managing Windows environments and a strong understanding of SQL databases. The selected candidate will be responsible for maintaining, securing, and optimizing our Windows-based infrastructure and supporting SQL systems that are critical to business operations.
Responsibilities
- Administer, maintain, and optimize Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022)
- Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and Windows patching
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues
- Implement, support, and maintain backup/recovery solutions and disaster recovery plans
- Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server environments
- Write and optimize SQL queries and scripts for system automation and reporting
- Collaborate with development and application teams to ensure system compatibility and performance
- Collaborate with customers, adjacent technical teams and all levels of management to address systems issues
- Maintain security best practices, including system hardening and vulnerability management
- Produce documentation for system configurations, procedures, and change controls
Required Qualifications
- 5–7 years of experience in Windows system administration in mid- to large-scale environments
- Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server (installation, maintenance, scripting, performance tuning)
- Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation
- High level of familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, and Nutanix)
- Understanding of network fundamentals (TCP/IP, firewalls, VPNs)
- Knowledge of ITIL practices and change management processes is a plus
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities
- Detail-oriented and customer-outcome focused
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Microsoft Certified: Windows Hybrid Server Administrator
- Microsoft Certified: Administrator Associate
- CompTIA Security+ or equivalent
Pay
$79.00–$92.00 per hour
