About the role

This is a full-time, permanent on-site role in Lincoln, Nebraska. The Senior IT Project Manager/BA Coordinator is responsible for planning, leading, organizing, and motivating agile and hybrid project teams with a focus on achieving business results. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing medium to large-scale Medicaid Management Information Systems (MMIS) projects and resources, as well as strong leadership and communication skills. This position is not eligible for remote/hybrid work, contracting, or visa sponsorship (including STEM OPT).

Responsibilities

  • Define project scope and schedule while focusing on regular and timely delivery of value; organize and lead project status and working meetings; prepare and distribute progress reports; manage risks and issues; correct deviations from plans; and perform delivery planning and operational readiness for assigned projects.
  • Oversee complex, highly visible projects requiring significant oversight.
  • Assist in team development while holding teams accountable for their commitments; remove roadblocks; leverage organizational resources to improve capacity; mentor and develop team members; and facilitate efficient resource use across multiple projects.
  • Support the Product Owner in managing customer expectations, stakeholder communications, and project governance. May serve in the Product Owner role at times.
  • Maintain clear communication with stakeholders, resolve issues, and ensure thorough project documentation using project management tools.
  • Promote team empowerment, engagement, and motivation to drive meaningful contributions.
  • Monitor and report vendor performance metrics; drive vendor delivery against contract deliverables.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in project management, business administration, public administration, business information systems, or a related field and seven years of experience as a project/program manager overseeing coordination, planning, initiation, and completion of major/long-term projects.
  • OR five years of experience and certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) or Program Management Professional (PgMP).
  • OR seven years of experience working on complex projects.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • At least 7 years of medium to large-scale project experience in a project management or similar role.
  • 7–10 years of experience with project/program planning, resource planning, work plan development, and project management processes.
  • PMP certification.
  • Demonstrated experience with blended methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) at the enterprise level.
  • Experience working within Medicaid & Long-Term Care Information Systems.
  • Experience with multiple software delivery lifecycles (SDLC), including Waterfall and Agile (preferably Scrum).

  • In-depth knowledge of business needs and the ability to establish/maintain high levels of customer trust.
  • Solid understanding and experience using project management tools (e.g., Jira/Confluence, Workfront, Monday.com), Microsoft Project, Visio, and Office Tools.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including experience interacting at the executive level.
  • Full transparency in communicating project progress, risks, and vendor performance.
  • Ability to solve business problems creatively and analytically, and propose solutions.
  • Big-picture thinking to assess the impact of new technologies, systems, or teams on business processes.
  • Ability to drive projects forward and take initiative.
  • Leadership skills to guide business analysts, program managers, coordinators, and collaborate with customers to develop high-value strategies.
