Temporary full-time role based in Rosemead, CA (hybrid schedule: onsite Tuesdays and Wednesdays, remote other days). Estimated duration: 13 months. Hourly rate: $102.56.
About the Role
Lead the end-to-end delivery of the AMI 2.0 smart-grid program within a large electric utility, coordinating technical and business teams, managing system integrators, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and financial requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead project lifecycle activities for the AMI 2.0 program: pre-planning, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure.
- Manage system integrator engagement and coordinate cross-functional technical and business teams.
- Prepare and manage financial reports covering program expenditures, variances, and forecasts.
- Develop resource plans covering roles, skillsets, effort, and cost estimates across technical workstreams.
- Support development and refinement of technical solution blueprints covering scope, schedule, budget, infrastructure, data flows, and system interfaces.
- Coordinate planning and analysis activities: solution validation, technical feasibility reviews, environment readiness, development sequencing, testing, and deployment planning.
- Track project scope against baseline requirements and support change control activities.
- Document scope changes, evaluate impacts, and escalate risks to leadership when necessary.
- Maintain project financial and milestone documentation for audit and compliance purposes.
- Identify project risks and opportunities and recommend corrective actions.
- Support procurement, vendor management, and contract negotiations related to technical and financial aspects of the program.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 3+ years of large-scale IT program/project management experience in utilities or regulated industries.
- Experience managing end-to-end IT project/program delivery, including resource planning, solution blueprinting, and implementation planning.
- Experience with AMI, smart grid, or large electric utility technology/infrastructure projects, with at least some AMI 1.0 exposure.
- Broad IT infrastructure knowledge with the ability to identify delivery gaps.
- Strong resource planning and project management capabilities.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and risk/issue management skills.
- Cross-functional leadership and stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to bridge business requirements with technical solutions.
- Ability to execute day-to-day project management deliverables while overseeing and delegating work.
- Ability to quickly adapt to a fast-paced, large-scale program and deliver results with appropriate direction.
- Ability to manage scope, requirements, changes, risks, and project deliverables.
Preferred Qualifications
- PMP certification.
- Experience with AMI 1.0 or AMI 2.0.
- Experience delivering technical information to non-technical audiences.
- Experience with vendor management and IT contract negotiations.
- Experience working with regulatory requirements and financial compliance in utility or IT sectors.
- Technical communication skills for non-technical audiences.

Schedule
- Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.
- Hybrid work model: onsite Tuesdays and Wednesdays, remote other days.
Pay
Hourly rate: $102.56.
