Senior IT Engineer – Enterprise Storage and Backup

As a Senior IT Engineer, you will report to a manager within a technology specialty area and collaborate with infrastructure architects, engineers, enterprise architects, application teams, operations teams, and vendor partners. This role focuses on infrastructure engineering and modernization across enterprise storage and backup platforms, including lifecycle management, capacity planning, monitoring, system resilience, and strategic planning.

You will work closely with operational support teams to provide technical direction, oversight, and escalation support for daily activities in a highly matrixed organization. Preferred experience includes Dell PowerScale, Dell PowerStore, Cohesity, Pure Storage, Cisco MDS SAN, and hybrid cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• 40% - Operations: Collaborate with internal customers and third-party vendors to manage expectations, approve processes, and assist with ITIL processes such as crisis management, support escalation, change management, release management, and capacity management.
• 20% - Technology Strategy: Assist or lead the development of technology strategy and roadmaps, including design, documentation, communication, and implementation of new or existing infrastructure technology standards. Stay current on industry trends.
• 10% - Research and Analysis: Analyze, plan, justify, schedule, and coordinate the implementation and maintenance of administrative, operational, and financial initiatives, including TCO, optimization, and efficiency.
• 25% - Supplier Management: Work with suppliers and vendors to align outcomes with organizational strategy. Oversee reporting metrics, dashboards, and status updates to ensure quality and performance for discretionary, support, and maintenance work.
• 5% - Financial Management: Plan, monitor, and control operating and capital budgets for assigned areas of responsibility.

As a High Reliability Organization (HRO), this role requires a focus on safety, quality, and efficiency in performing job duties.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Computer/Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field (Required).
• Eight years of technical engineering experience.
• Subject matter expertise in specialized technologies supporting clinical operations and information systems, with the ability to analyze and interpret business drivers.
• Project management and process excellence with a strong analytical, data-driven approach to problem-solving.
• Advanced knowledge of IT technologies, including endpoint devices, servers, security, network, storage, and telecom.
• Experience in process improvement or project work.
