About the role
The Advanced Analytics Cognos Administrator is responsible for the Installation, configuration, administration, developer support, and on-call support of the reporting and analytical solutions for the business community. This role also involves support and upgrade environments to Cognos v11 and internal customer-facing activities.
Responsibilities
- Administer the BI applications.
- Maintain a stable production environment that meets performance needs and make adjustments as needed.
- Resolve production issues in a timely manner including on-call support as needed and maintain audit/security.
- Plan and manage BI system implementations and upgrades, license management, security, and future/additional product evaluations for the business intelligence applications as needed.
- Maintain and monitor all BI environments including development, test, production, and disaster recovery.
- Cross-train and coordinate with team members in order to provide seamless and consistent system support.
- Proactively develop, coordinate, and provide on-going training, functional, and technical direction to the super-users (content developers).
- Research functionality and technical configuration within the BI systems supported by the BI Applications group and prepare recommendations for system improvements whenever possible.
- Provide Management with regular and timely status reports and benchmarking metrics of projects, issues, system implementations and upgrades.
- Create documentation for project status reports, timelines, project issues and risks, change requests, requirements, design, testing plans and test cases as needed for assigned projects.
- Define and document application best practices, required standards, processes, and guidelines regarding the use and administration of the BI tools.
- Technical interface with IT local landscape teams, and Enterprise Data Warehouse teams.
- Work with IT Local Landscape teams, DIAA Teams, Project Managers, Team Leads, and Technical Leads, as well as representatives from vendors to identify and resolve issues and remove obstacles in achieving the Advanced Analytics objectives.
- Partners and consults with business partners to understand their business requirements; recommends/designs research and analysis to improve business performance.
Requirements
- Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Exposure to tool administration, installation, configuration, code deployment, security administration, data analysis, querying and troubleshooting.
- Experience with Cognos R11 upgrade.
- Power BI Administration and Development Experience is a plus.
Qualifications
- 5-7 Years designing, developing, and administering Business Intelligence applications.
- Experience should include maintenance and support activities, performance monitoring and tuning, upgrading versions, software configuration, business continuity and disaster recovery planning, and general IT processes such as Change Management, Configuration Management, Problem Resolution, and Incident Tracking required.
