About the role

The Senior IT Business Analyst – Retail bridges the gap between Retail IT and the business to assess processes, determine, document and align requirements, deliver data-driven recommendations and reports to stakeholders for their assigned team or function.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates business requirements against system capabilities by reviewing application configuration capabilities and technical requirements
  • Engages with business stakeholders, end users and other IT teams to understand how data and application driven changes to process, products, services, software and hardware can improve efficiency and add value
  • Partners with product manager/owner and business stakeholders on defining what is technologically feasible and financially and functionally reasonable
  • Creates and maintains functional and non-functional documentation for IT and end users
  • Creates and provides input on data models, application processes, business processes, test plans, technical design documents, user stories and other artifacts as appropriate
  • Manages the application change life cycle through documentation
  • Facilitates discussions on product and/ services recommendations to stakeholders
  • Presents end user requirements, functional specifications, technical specifications and process flow diagrams to technical teams and other stakeholders
  • Maintains relationships with data services, information security, and architecture teams to ensure solution meets business requirements
  • Mentors and coaches analysts on business standards and requirements; ensures best practices are followed
  • Informally leads solutions action plans
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Education/ Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline or a combination of relevant IT experience and education
  • Experience: 6-10 years’ relevant IT experience
  • Experience: 6-10 years’ experience working with process flow diagrams, data models, test plans, technical design documents, and business process documentation
  • Experience: 6-10 years’ experience working in software, networks, databases or other technology
  • Knowledge/Skills/ Abilities: Advanced knowledge of Enterprise Advantage; advanced knowledge of retail systems including Point of Sale, pricing, and promotion solutions; highly skilled in technical writing and requirements; organizational and facilitation skills; highly skilled in interpersonal and consultation; advanced critical thinking skills; ability to work independently and break down and organize assigned work into workable tasks, along with delegating tasks; ability to learn new systems, concepts and procedures; communication skills written and verbal; customer focus and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate across teams and work in a remote environment; ability to work with geographically dispersed teams; good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available

Qualifications

  • Physical Environment/Demands: Office roles; most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment. Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at a desk or computer terminal. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephones, and other office equipment in the course of a normal workday. Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in the completion of job duties.
