Senior iOS/Android Software Engineer
About The Role
We're a fast-growing consumer fintech startup building financial products that help everyday people access cash, build credit, spend smarter, and file taxes — all in one app. Our mission is to provide a genuine alternative to predatory banking fees and give users real financial tools that work for them. We're looking for a Senior Mobile Software Engineer (Android-focused) to join our product-focused engineering team in San Francisco. You'll work closely with product, engineering, and business leaders to craft high-quality, delightful consumer experiences and help scale our core mobile app. This role carries meaningful impact on both company progress and user happiness.
What You'll Do
- Design, implement, and maintain our core Android application
- Contribute to platform-level engineering and help build shared mobile infrastructure
- Pragmatically solve complex technical and product problems
- Contribute to product design decisions and overall product direction
- Collaborate effectively with product, engineering, and business stakeholders across the organization
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers on the mobile team
What We're Looking For
- Required:
- 2+ years of experience in mobile engineering
- Strong Kotlin expertise for Android development, including Jetpack Compose and modern app architecture (MVVM / Clean Architecture)
- Proven experience building and shipping consumer-facing mobile apps (not exclusively B2B)
- Experience integrating Firebase services (Authentication, Firestore/Realtime Database, Cloud Messaging)
- Familiarity with backend data formats and APIs common in mobile apps: protobufs, REST, and gRPC
- Proficiency with Android testing strategies (unit and instrumentation/UI tests) and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for mobile
- Strong communication skills and a track record of cross-functional collaboration
- Nice to Have:
- Mentorship or technical leadership experience guiding junior mobile engineers
- Familiarity with Dagger Hilt for dependency injection
- Exposure to GCP, Go, BigQuery, or MySQL in a mobile backend context
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $160,000 – $200,000 USD annually, depending on experience
- Visa sponsorship is available
Location
This is a full-time, on-site role based in San Francisco, CA. Candidates should be prepared to work from the office.
