About the role

The Senior International Relations Strategy SME supports the J3-I Engagements Branch in planning, coordinating, and executing multilateral events and multinational conferences. The SME provides research, planning, staffing, official correspondence, itinerary development, briefing and read-ahead preparation, coordination, and execution support while working across DoD, U.S. Embassies, and partner nations worldwide. The position requires an experienced strategic planner with excellent writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Research and prepare readahead packages (average up to 4 per month), including strategic objectives, key themes/messages, talking points, biographies, prior conference readouts, and supporting documents for J3 Directorate and Command Group international engagements.
  • Draft and recommend international engagement strategy for the Division, Directorate, and Command Group to support Command objectives.
  • Provide international relations expertise and advice to leadership regarding bilateral and multilateral engagements.
  • Provide quality assurance, expertise, and support for international correspondence.
  • Respond to RFIs regarding International Key Leader Engagements.
  • Coordinate with J2, J3, and J5 Directors' Action Groups on command priorities and engagement strategies.
  • Maintain awareness and expertise regarding current U.S. international relations policy and strategy.
  • Perform closeout and escort duties under Division Security Procedures.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in international security studies.
  • Recent strategic-level engagement experience on a Combatant Command/4-star Commander’s Action Group.
  • At least 1 year recent CAG or Political Advisor experience at COCOM/TSOC level.
  • 3 years preparing written products and briefings for GO/FO/SES senior leaders.
  • 3 years recent business and communication strategy experience.
  • Current DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
