About the role
The Senior Internal Communications Specialist develops and executes strategic communication initiatives that advance employee engagement and support business objectives. This role creates high-impact executive communications, owns the planning and execution of company-wide events, and generates compelling storytelling content across internal channels. It combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution to manage sophisticated internal communication challenges across formats and audiences.
Responsibilities
- Own the planning, content development, and stakeholder coordination for company-wide events, including quarterly Town Halls, the annual CKO event, and various company-wide series (e.g., executive leadership touchpoints).
- Develop comprehensive communication strategies for internal organizational initiatives, generating original stories and content to engage employees and connect their work to broader business goals.
- Create and distribute employee-facing content across multiple channels, including the company intranet, Slack, digital signage/TV screens, and email.
- Create executive leadership communications including C-suite messages, leadership presentations, and executive thought leadership content.
- Conduct stakeholder analysis and develop targeted communication approaches for complex business issues affecting multiple audiences.
- Lead cross-departmental communication projects and represent the function independently in senior-level meetings.
- Oversee governance of the company intranet and serve as the connective bridge between the intranet and the enterprise knowledge management (EKM) platform, guiding employees to the appropriate system for their content needs.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
- Support crisis communication planning and execution as needed, in partnership with senior leadership.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree and 5+ years of professional related experience.
- Proven record of developing successful communication strategies and campaigns, including employee-facing storytelling content.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with ability to adapt tone and style for various audiences and channels.
- Experience independently managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects such as large-scale internal events.
- Advanced proficiency in communication measurement and analytics.
Qualifications (Desired)
- Experience in publicly traded companies or highly regulated industries.
- Professional certifications (APR, ABC, or similar).
- Experience with digital communication platforms and emerging communication technologies.
- Background in change management communications or organizational transformation.
- Crisis communication and issues management experience.
Pay
The base salary range for this role is $72,300 – $119,300. The range reflects the minimum and maximum target and takes into account factors including knowledge, skills, experience, education, and business needs.
