Senior Internal Communications Manager

About the role

The Senior Internal Communications Manager at Coinbase is responsible for defining and owning the internal communications strategy for a portfolio of stakeholders. They serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders on messaging, approach, timing, etc. They ensure employees have the information and context they need to do their job, develop and improve systems, measure the effectiveness of communications programs, and proactively identify and implement AI-native approaches to internal communications.

Responsibilities

• Define and own the internal communications strategy for your portfolio of stakeholders, serving as a trusted advisor to senior leaders on messaging, approach, timing, etc.
• Ensure employees have the information and context they need to do their job.
• Create and improve systems, including AI-powered tools and workflows, that scale communications across a globally distributed, remote workforce.
• Measure the effectiveness of communications programs, leveraging data for continuous improvement.
• Develop a deep understanding of the company mission, strategy, and culture to reinforce in all communications.
• Proactively identify and implement AI-native approaches to internal communications, from content creation and personalization to measurement and feedback loops, raising the bar for what the function can deliver at scale.
• Support and execute org or company-wide live events (e.g., drafting talking points, advising on event flow and structure, preparing speakers, etc.).
• Partner with your Internal & External Comms teammates to drive proactive/reactive communications and coordinate internal issues management.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in internal, external or corporate communications, media / journalism, or another writing intensive role.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills, prioritizing clarity & brevity in all communications.
• Well-developed “executive presence,” including experience directly partnering with senior executives on communications initiatives, with examples of ability to influence stakeholders and adapt work style accordingly.
• Demonstrated experience using AI tools to accelerate and improve communications work (e.g., drafting, research, audience analysis, content testing); ensures responsible use, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.
• Resilience and grit: able to maintain a proactive, even-keeled posture in the face of rapid organizational change and shifting priorities.
• Experience communicating to a highly distributed, remote workforce.
• Extremely organized (gets energy from roadmapping, planning, envisioning the path).
• Able to think and do—someone who can both generate ideas and implement them.
• Able to balance speed and quality, with an acute sense for what matters most in a given moment.
• Enthusiasm for crypto with willingness to develop real fluency in the space.

Benefits

Internal Communications at Coinbase is an individual contributor role reporting to the Director of Internal Communications. This role is remote-first, but not remote-only, with quarterly in-person working sessions called “surges.” Coinbase offers a competitive total compensation package, including base salary, equity, and potential bonuses. The annual base salary range (excluding equity and bonus) is $205,785 USD - $242,100 USD.

Pay

Base salary varies by location (see range below). Total compensation may also include equity and bonus eligibility, and benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401(k)).
