This is an opportunity to become a leader and Principal within an international design firm. We are seeking an established Corporate Workplace Interior Designer for a highly visible role within the office of a large, nationally established architecture and design firm. The individual hired will work closely with the current studio leadership and have the opportunity to help shape the future direction, growth, client relationships, and leadership of the Corporate Workplace practice. With anticipated leadership transitions in the coming years, the firm is specifically looking for someone capable of progressing beyond senior-level project work and into Associate Principal/Principal-level leadership. For the right person, this represents a rare opportunity to join an established practice, inherit meaningful leadership responsibility, help grow the business, and position yourself for Principal-level advancement within the next several years. Why Consider This Opportunity? Clear Path to Principal This position is being recruited with succession planning in mind. The successful candidate will work alongside existing studio leadership with the expectation that they can assume increasingly significant leadership responsibilities and potentially advance into a Principal/Partner-level role. Established Corporate Workplace Practice Join an established corporate interiors practice with existing clients, projects, resources, and infrastructure. This is an opportunity to help lead and expand an existing business, rather than build a practice from scratch. Business-Building Opportunity The position combines design leadership with client development, project pursuits, relationship management, mentoring, and studio growth. You will have the opportunity to become a recognized leader of the practice both internally and within the Twin Cities marketplace. What You’ll Do Partner directly with studio leadership to help guide the Corporate Workplace practice Establish design vision and lead execution across workplace interior projects Lead medium to large-scale corporate office and workplace engagements Develop and expand relationships with existing and prospective clients Participate in marketing, business development, project pursuits and presentations Help identify and capture new business opportunities Lead programming, space planning, design development and project delivery Help shape the long-term strategy, growth and market position of the studio Who We’re Looking For An accomplished designer. We are seeking a business-minded interior design leader who can eventually help lead the Corporate Workplace practice. Preferred Qualifications Include 10+ years of professional interior design experience Significant experience with corporate workplace and commercial office interiors Leadership experience within an architecture or interior design firm Programming and space-planning expertise Client relationship management capabilities Experience with business development, project pursuits, marketing or client acquisition a plus Proficiency with Revit Professional degree in Interior Design from a CIDA-accredited program NCIDQ certification CID, LEED AP and/or WELL AP credentials are beneficial The Opportunity This goes well beyond filling an immediate project need. You will partner with current leadership, become increasingly involved in the business side of the practice, and position themselves to become one of its future leaders. As existing studio leadership transitions, you will have the opportunity to assume greater responsibility for clients, people, project pursuits, revenue growth, design leadership and overall studio direction. For a Senior Interior Designer, Design Director, Associate, Associate Principal or similar professional who has reached the ceiling of their current organization, this offers something substantially different: A credible path from senior design leadership to Associate Principal and ultimately Principal-level leadership within a national established corporate workplace practice.
