Description Summary
Senior Interior Designer at Ruby + Suede, you will play a pivotal role in transforming spaces into functional and aesthetically pleasing environments. Located in Minnesota's Twin Cities metro area, this position allows you to leverage your creativity and expertise to deliver outstanding designs that reflect our clients' visions.
Responsibilities
- Meeting with clients and other tradespeople such as architects or builders to discuss the needs of the client.
- Developing designs according to a brief that are functional, appealing and appropriate for the space.
- Using design software (such as Chief Architect) to create models and visuals.
- Researching and preparing plans, diagrams or sketches for interior constructions, materials, finishes, lighting, furniture and furnishing.
- Selecting furniture, materials, decor and finishes while keeping within budget.
- Selecting suppliers of materials and labor.
- Estimating costs and submitting quotes for client approval.
- Working within timely schedules to coordinate the completion of tasks through to final project completion.
- Inspecting and supervising the work of tradespeople to ensure that quality and safety standards, costs and deadlines are met.
- Placing orders for materials and overseeing their installation.
- Visiting after the project to ensure that the client is satisfied.
- Communicating with Supervisors, Peers and Subcontractors by telephone, email, or in person on design requirements.
- Researching of appliance specifications, various materials, accessories and more.
- Consults with: Supervisors, Interior Design Staff, Project Managers, Subcontractors & Clients of Highmark Companies.
Qualifications
- Creative thinking in developing, designing and creating new applications and ideas.
- Knowledge of the practices and principles of interior design.
- Knowledge of CAD or other Computer –aided design software.
- The ability to visualize concepts and explain them to others.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Good Organization skills, to ensure each project stays on schedule and is completed within the allowed budget.
- Knowledge of the preparation of proposals and specifications for interior design work.
- Have an associate degree or certificate in a 2-3 year program, or a bachelor’s degree in Interior Design / Fine Arts. Or enrolled in an Interior design program and looking for an apprenticeship.
- Must have own transportation.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Must pass a background check.
- CAD or other Computer –aided design software: 2 years (Required).
- Designing and creating new applications and ideas: 2 years (Required).
- Knowledge of the practices and principles of interior design: 2 years (Required).
- Establishing & maintaining effective working relationships: 2 years (Required).
- The ability to visualize concepts & explain them to others: 2 years (Required).
- Strong communication and negotiation skills: 2 years (Required).
- Project organization skills: 2 years (Required).
- Ensuring projects stays on schedule: 1 year (Required).
- Ensuring each project is completed within the allowed budget: 1 year (Required).
