Senior Interior Designer

Enso Homes · Austin, TX · 3 mo ago
On-siteArt & Creative$95k–$115k/yrFull-time

About the Role

Enso Homes is an Austin-based design-build company rethinking how people remodel their homes with non-toxic materials, mold-resistant methods, and a client experience that's genuinely transparent from the first conversation. "Clarity Before Construction" is our design philosophy, not just a tagline.

This role is for someone who has already run their own design practice, owned client relationships, made critical decisions, and wants to shape how things are built at a company still young enough for that ownership to matter. The ambiguity and pace won't slow down while you figure things out—you'll be making calls more often than feels comfortable, with less structure than you're used to.

Responsibilities

  • Client Relationship
    • Lead every first intro call and walkthrough
    • Sell the Enso Design Plan after the walkthrough
    • Serve as the client's single point of contact from kickoff through construction handoff
    • Conduct the final punchlist walkthrough and three-month follow-up site visit
  • Design Process
    • Run the four-call Enso Design Plan cadence, incorporating portal feedback and call recordings
    • Shape design direction, materials, and layout choices, and explain how each affects project pricing
    • Lead stone yard walks and in-person material selections with clients
    • Build and maintain local supplier relationships in Austin
  • Quality Bar
    • Review production designer output (renderings, scope, pricing, floor plan adjustments, selections) against Enso's standard
    • Review architectural drafting output for accuracy and buildability
    • Catch problems before they reach the client

Requirements

  • You’ve held a genuine lead or primary designer seat in residential remodeling—ownership, not just support
  • A natural instinct for building trust quickly with clients making significant home investments
  • Comfort with ambiguity and pace; unclear situations engage you rather than wear you down
  • Ability to uphold a quality bar on others' work without managerial authority
  • Based in Austin or ready to relocate—this role is in-person for walkthroughs, stone yards, and supplier relationships

Nice to have: Familiarity with non-toxic or wellness-focused building materials.

Benefits & Pay

Base salary: $95,000 to $115,000, depending on experience. Performance bonuses tied to the design and sales pipeline can bring on-target earnings to around $130,000 for a strong year.

Benefits include a healthcare allowance through our ICHRA program and PTO.
