Senior Interior Designer

The Role

The Senior Interior Designer plays a crucial role in Canoo’s mission to bring electric vehicles to everyone. They are responsible for developing compelling design proposals, translating ideas into 3D models, and collaborating with various departments to ensure designs meet engineering and manufacturing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop proposals for both production and concept vehicles using 2D sketching, 3D modeling, and rendering abilities.
• Collaborate across departments and functions, including benchmarking competitors, researching trends, and presenting strategies to executives.
• Work closely with studio engineering to bring designs into production and support 3D modelers with clear drawings and renderings.
• Communicate design ideas effectively to the team and work in a competitive environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in industrial / transportation / automotive design.
• 5+ Years’ experience in OEM or startup automotive design studios.
• Proficiency with Autodesk Alias, Blender, and Keyshot.
• Experience overseeing the development of components/vehicles from initial designs to final production.
• Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to prepare presentations for upper management.
• Basic knowledge of Quality Management Systems and Environmental Management Systems.

Preferred Experience

• Success in bringing a range of people into the research and design process.
• Preparation of presentations for upper management.
• Basic knowledge of Quality Management Systems and Environmental Management Systems.

Physical Requirements

• Sit for prolonged periods of time.
• Occasionally bend or stoop.
• Lift up to 10 pounds.
• Prolonged periods of computer use.
