About the Role

Functions as a technical specialist or has management and administrative responsibilities for a group. May supervise multi-discipline engineering staff on projects of medium to high complexity and is recognized as a key technical reference. Has influence within the organization and applies advanced engineering solutions to complex problems. Responsibilities include leading production teams, coordinating multi-discipline activities, and serving as the responsible charge for projects.

Responsibilities

  • Provides guidance and direction on department design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes, and Black & Veatch policies. May own, maintain, update, or develop engineering standards and guides.
  • Applies knowledge and ensures compliance with the Black & Veatch quality program, establishing related processes and promoting a culture conducive to quality.
  • Prepares complex engineering deliverables for multiple or mega projects and performs complex research for equipment/materials selection.
  • Oversees collection, assimilation, and management of data for engineering work and prepares complex engineering calculations following standard methods and principles.
  • Manages assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements, ensuring project teams delegate appropriate tasks to develop depth of project execution staff.
  • Reviews lower-level engineering work or assignments and leads production teams or coordinates multiple discipline activities.
  • Defines project schedules for single or multiple disciplines and actively coordinates with internal/external team members on complex projects.
  • Identifies key client interests and drivers, communicating them to the project team and developing approaches to accommodate these concerns.
  • Works to identify future client needs and positions Black & Veatch for future opportunities, supporting business development or pursuit activities.
  • Serves as a technical specialist in a broad or narrow specialized field, developing and applying advanced engineering concepts to unique problems.
  • Supports chief engineers or top engineering management and is accountable for discipline-specific engineering processes.
  • Oversees performance management, career planning, recognition, learning and development, and corrective actions for team members.
  • Actively mentors lower- and mid-level professionals and identifies successors for role-specific training.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from a recognized accredited program.
  • Minimum of 11 years of related work experience.
  • Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements, including background checks, drug screens, and motor vehicle records searches.

Pay

The compensation range for this role is $162.38 - $271.00 per hour.
