Senior Instructor Chillers
About the role
Johnson Controls, a global leader in thermal management, mission-critical building systems, energy efficiency, and decarbonization, seeks a Senior Instructor for Chillers. This position can be virtual/remote but ideally will be located near one of our Training Institutes in Dallas, San Antonio, Houston, Milwaukee, Phoenix, Tampa, or York, PA.
Responsibilities
- Delivers assigned learning sessions, including live classroom and web-based learning sessions.
- Flexes instruction and facilitation style to meet the needs of the audience, content, and technology.
- Facilitates learning of advanced-level materials and multiple areas of expertise.
- Develops subject matter expertise in new technology, products, or processes and serves as a subject matter expert in the development of learning materials.
- Arranges for an appropriate learning environment, including room setup, audiovisual equipment, technical equipment, web access, handouts, etc.
- Measures results of technical training and reports findings to Program Leaders, Learning and Development Managers.
- Develops and presents recommendations for continuous improvements to technical training.
- Evaluates the on-the-job effectiveness of former class participants as appropriate.
- Provides constructive feedback to learners on their understanding of new materials and performance in the classroom.
- Turns in and maintains records, prepares reports and correspondence as required.
- Continuously updates and improves delivery and coaching skills, including the use of new technologies for sharing knowledge and building skills.
- Affords support to Region and Branch personnel with training needs and questions about Technical Education.
- Works with the design and development team to create learning solutions, on time and on budget.
- Maintains and upgrades lab equipment and computers used in training.
Requirements
- Five plus years of experience with York chillers, preferably with Johnson Controls.
- Experience performing operational checks, monitoring operations, and troubleshooting & startup of York chillers.
- Strong writing, communication, and facilitation skills to clearly articulate and transfer content.
- Holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Education, or a related field.
- Realizes the importance of details in leading to impactful outcomes.
- Collaborates with Instructional Designers, Learning Professionals, Product Managers, Program Managers, and other stakeholders.
- Has personal ethics, does quality work, and maintains a positive attitude.
Qualifications
- Technical Expertise: Understanding of Johnson Controls products, particularly York chillers.
- Experience: Five or more years of experience with Johnson Controls or a similar company.
- Communication Skills: Strong writing, communication, and facilitation skills.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Education, or a related field.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to focus on details for impactful outcomes.
- Collaboration: Ability to collaborate with various stakeholders.
- Professionalism: Personal ethics, quality work, and positive attitude.
