Senior Infrastructure/Networking Engineer
This role is primarily on-site at our Annapolis Junction, MD location, with flexibility at the hiring manager’s discretion. Active and transferable U.S. government-issued Top Secret/SCI security clearance is required on day one; U.S. citizenship is mandatory.
About the role
Applied Signal Technology (AST), a national asset in the SIGINT domain, is seeking a Senior Infrastructure / Networking Engineer to join a dynamic, highly collaborative team that strengthens our nation and improves global security. AST delivers trusted strategic and tactical SIGINT solutions, including high-capacity broadband communications, signal processing and analysis, tactical SIGINT, and wireless communications. Responsibilities
- Guide and oversee the design, development, testing, and delivery of advanced high-capacity systems that process modern communications.
- Collaborate with experienced R&D team members on system development and deployments for national security.
- Generate briefings and present material to team members, customers, and AST management as needed.
- Work autonomously yet collaboratively in a team environment, demonstrating excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Travel up to 25%.
Requirements
- Active and transferable U.S. government-issued Top Secret/SCI (TS/SCI) security clearance required prior to start date; U.S. citizenship is mandatory.
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with 3 years of experience, or 9 years of relevant experience in absence of a degree.
- Experience with system development supporting multiple programs.
- Hands-on experience with Linux, especially Red Hat-based distributions.
- Experience with system administration and enterprise-grade networking equipment (e.g., Cisco, Arista, Juniper).
- Experience with virtualization technology (KVM, VMware, Hyper-V).
- Knowledge of network protocols such as TCP/IP and UDP.
- Experience with configuration management systems (Puppet, Ansible, Salt).
- Experience designing and setting up networks and data centers.
- Experience verifying and validating software and systems.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with user interface development.
- Experience with enterprise-grade storage equipment.
- Experience with object-oriented programming languages, particularly Python or other scripting languages.
- Experience with or understanding of telecommunications systems concepts and/or signal processing.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or other containerized systems.
- Experience with process improvement and automated system deployments.
- Active Top-Secret SCI (TS/SCI) with Polygraph (updated within the last 24 months).

Pay
The salary range for this role is $95,500 – $181,700 USD. The range is a good-faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
