Senior Infrastructure Build Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Infrastructure Build Engineer to support enterprise server build and infrastructure delivery initiatives within a complex, highly regulated environment. This role involves translating architecture and build requirements into practical infrastructure solutions, managing server builds through their full lifecycle, and coordinating across multiple technical teams to ensure timely project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end server build requests, from requirements intake through deployment, validation, and final delivery.
  • Translate architecture blueprints and technical specifications into executable infrastructure build plans.
  • Build, configure, and support highly available server environments across enterprise platforms, primarily focusing on IBM AIX and Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
  • Coordinate and drive tasks across cross-functional teams including network, storage, application, monitoring, and security to ensure build activities stay on schedule.
  • Review build specifications, assess feasibility, and identify risks, dependencies, and technical constraints.
  • Execute and oversee multiple concurrent infrastructure builds within agile sprint timelines.
  • Support migration efforts from on-premises to hybrid and colocation infrastructure models.
  • Utilize workflow and ticketing platforms such as ServiceNow and JIRA to track tasks, dependencies, and maintain transparency.
  • Leverage automation tools and scripting (e.g., Ansible, PowerShell, Terraform) to improve build efficiency, standardization, and repeatability.
  • Perform infrastructure testing, validation, and troubleshooting throughout the build lifecycle.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, onboarding materials, and standardized build procedures.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineering teams.
  • Communicate project status updates clearly to technical teams and leadership.
  • Support security and compliance initiatives, including zero trust and secure infrastructure design principles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in infrastructure or systems engineering within enterprise environments.
  • Proven experience building and delivering highly available servers end-to-end.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with IBM AIX and Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
  • Experience coordinating infrastructure delivery across multiple domains including network, storage, and application teams.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise server architecture, build tools, and full-stack dependencies.
  • Experience using ServiceNow and JIRA for workflow management and build tracking.
  • Knowledge of automation and scripting tools such as Ansible, PowerShell, Terraform.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt quickly to changing project demands.
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.
  • Eligibility to pass background screening and work authorization requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with WebSphere Application Server and enterprise middleware.
  • Familiarity with Oracle, SQL, and enterprise storage platforms like GPFS.
  • Knowledge of Cisco ACI, micro-segmentation, or secure network boundary technologies.
  • Exposure to hybrid cloud, colocation, or infrastructure modernization initiatives.
  • Understanding of Zero Trust security principles.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers and working in highly regulated environments.
