About the role
Our client is seeking an experienced IT Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of enterprise application and software projects. This role is responsible for managing the full project lifecycle, from planning and requirements gathering through implementation, testing, deployment, and post-launch support.
This is a long-term, ongoing contract position, with 5 days onsite in Houston, TX, and requires oil and gas industry experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead application and software implementation projects from initiation through completion.
- Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, milestones, resource plans, and project documentation.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Manage project risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies.
- Monitor project progress and provide regular status updates to leadership and stakeholders.
- Coordinate activities related to business requirements gathering, solution design, development, testing, deployment, and post-production support.
- Partner with business teams, developers, architects, QA teams, and vendors to ensure successful delivery of application solutions.
- Facilitate User Acceptance Testing (UAT), defect resolution, and go-live readiness activities.
- Support system upgrades, enhancements, integrations, and digital transformation initiatives.
- Ensure alignment between technology solutions and business objectives.
- Build strong relationships with business leaders, IT teams, and external partners.
- Facilitate project meetings, workshops, steering committees, and executive updates.
- Translate business needs into actionable project plans and deliverables.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Apply Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid project management methodologies as appropriate.
- Ensure compliance with PMO standards, governance processes, and documentation requirements.
- Manage scope changes through established change management processes.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and promote project management best practices.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience) is required.
- 5+ years of IT project management experience leading application, software, or technology projects.
- Experience managing the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall.
- Experience managing budgets, timelines, project resources, and vendor relationships.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- PMP, Scrum Master, or other project management certification.
- Experience leading enterprise application implementations, upgrades, or integrations.
- Experience with project management tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, Smartsheet, or Microsoft Project.
- Background in business process improvement, digital transformation, or application modernization initiatives.
- Experience working in large enterprise environments.
