The Senior Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) supports the Secretary of the Air Force, Office of Competition (SAF/OC) Mission Partner Capabilities Office (MPCO) by providing onsite ISSO process support for MPCO Information Systems located in Hampton, VA; Tampa, FL; Hickam, Hawaii; and Molesworth, UK.
Outcomes
- Formally track all tasks, including assignment details, deadlines, status, and comments through completion, and be prepared to brief upon request.
- Develop digital continuity folders and files containing standard operating procedures, workflows, and point-of-contact lists to accomplish all tasks.
- Create 2-3 products beyond client requirements that positively impact efficiency, effectiveness, or innovation.
- Establish a foundation in AI/ML skills and contribute to AI/ML operationalization and modernization goals.
- Master position tasks within 60 days and exceed requirements within 90 days.
- Use government-provided Generative AI tools daily to accelerate tasks, research, documentation, analysis, planning, reporting, and problem-solving.
- Recommend process improvements and practices that enhance quality, speed, and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Provide onsite ISSO support to MPCO Information System Security Managers (ISSMs) at MPCO Information System locations.
- Assist in coordinating cybersecurity-related processes and activities for MPCO Information Systems, including:
- Risk Management Framework (RMF) and system authorization
- Cyber Incident Handling
- System Life Cycle Management Processes (e.g., Engineering Change and Configuration Management)
- Vulnerability Management
- Malware Protection
- Security Assessments/Evaluations/Reviews
- Continuous Monitoring
- Department of Defense Information Network (DODIN) Connection Approval Process
- Cyber Security Service Provider (CSSP)
- Work with the Cyberspace Capabilities Branch and other MPCO Divisions to propose iterative innovation initiatives quarterly, focusing on best practices, innovative technology, and process improvements to enhance daily operations across the MPCO Enterprise.
- Provide cost/benefit analysis proposals for any recommended efforts requiring external resources.
- Support and document cybersecurity assessments, security impact analyses, and system authorization of MPCO Information Systems, adhering to DoW, Air Force, and Multi-National directives.
- Per PWS section 1.5.9.1 Circuit Management (COMSEC Support), provide COMSEC-related support as required.
Requirements
- Minimum of ten (10) years of related work experience.
- Minimum of six (6) years of specific work-related experience supporting a Department of Defense (DoD) component.
- Minimum of three (3) years as a staff action officer (e.g., DoD Staff, Service Staff, CCMD staff, Joint Staff, or equivalent), which may be included in the years of technical experience above.
- Experience supporting the technical security of military systems, with at least two years in coalition operations and multi-level security solutions supporting coalition environments or bilateral military information sharing.
- Experience with the following processes:
- Risk Management Framework (RMF) and system authorization
- Cyber Incident Handling
- System Life Cycle Management Processes (e.g., Engineering Change and Configuration Management)
- Vulnerability Management
- Malware Protection
- Security Assessments/Evaluations/Reviews
- Continuous Monitoring
- DODIN Connection Approval Process
- Cybersecurity Service Provider (CSSP)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Active Top Secret/SCI clearance.
- MA/MS degree (or a BA/BS plus an additional 8 years of work experience, 4 of which must be work-related).
Qualifications
- IAM Level II certification (e.g., CAP, CASP+ CE, CISM, CISSP, GSLC, or CCISO) (mandatory).
- CEH certification (desired).
- Knowledge of Generative AI tools and methods (desired).
- CompTIA Network+ certification (desired).
- CompTIA Security+ certification (desired).
- Compliance with DoD Directive 8140.
Other Details
Location: MacDill AFB, Tampa, FL (On-site).
Travel: Local travel and/or occasional long-distance travel may be required, less than 10%.
