Senior Information and Library Officer
About the role
The Senior Information and Library Officer post is designed to increase our focus on developing and delivering high-quality library and information services to CoramBAAF colleagues, members and visitors. The role is ideal for someone who wants to build on their existing knowledge, skills and experience in a small, friendly and busy team, and who would relish the being part of an evolving service and taking on responsibility for supervising volunteers. The post holder will join CoramBAAF at an exciting time as we move forward with our Library Management System replacement project and plans to develop our specialist library, which is now located in a newly renovated space as part of the Institute for Children on the Coram campus.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, hard-working and proactive information professional to join our small but dedicated Information Team. The ideal candidate will be a motivated individual with strong organisational and communication skills and a desire to provide high quality services to colleagues and members.
Purpose of the Role
- Contribute to CoramBAAF’s member services by providing a timely and comprehensive current awareness service, researching responses to enquiries received via the Advice Line, and updating information on our website.
- Support the work of CoramBAAF colleagues across the organisation, and in particular the Policy, Research & Development, Training & Events and Publications teams, by providing relevant information and resources as required.
- Recruit and manage volunteers to assist with a range of library work including cataloguing, stock-taking and supporting library visitors.
- Maximise the opportunities presented by the new location and online catalogue to increase the visibility and use of the collection and catalogue through training, promotion, and outreach activities, and welcoming and supporting library visitors.
- Develop the collection by adding previously uncatalogued print and electronic material to the catalogue (Soutron library management system), streamlining collection development processes and monitoring the use of resources.
