Senior Industrial Controls Engineer, Structured Safety

This role will lead operational priorities where safety, quality, compliance, and execution discipline are central to success. You will collaborate with field leadership, support functions, and cross-functional stakeholders to improve accountability, service delivery, and operational consistency. The position offers the opportunity to influence operational scale, customer outcomes, and organizational performance within a manufacturing environment.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Responsibilities

  • Design and program Rockwell GuardLogix Safety PLC code for emergency stops, door interlocks, and safety logic controls
  • Collaborate with the Functional Safety team to ensure compliance with safety standards and validation of protocols
  • Create Ignition-based safety HMI screens to monitor STS status and alarms
  • Assist in field commissioning and perform validation and root cause analysis of safety systems
  • Develop reusable code libraries and coding standards for scalable safety architecture
  • Lead STS projects from design phase through deployment, conducting design reviews and acting as a liaison between teams

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of experience as a Controls Engineer with a focus on Rockwell GuardLogix Safety PLC programming
  • In-depth knowledge of functional safety standards (ISO 13849, IEC 62061, SIL/PL) with experience in safety logic design
  • Real-world experience in field commissioning, safety protocol sign-off, and root cause analysis
  • Experience in leading controls capital projects with a collaborative approach
  • Preference for candidates with experience in material handling or distribution center automation
  • Familiarity with Ignition 8 or FactoryTalk HMI development and Rockwell Integrated Architecture is beneficial
  • TUV Functional Safety Engineer certification and prior team leadership experience are advantageous

Pay

$149,000 – $204,600 annually
