Senior Implementation Engineer

About the role

Air is seeking motivated, curious, and data‑driven Senior Implementation Engineers to join the team in Arlington, VA. This full‑time position involves 60% travel to client sites across the United States (CONUS and OCONUS). Engineers apply quantitative skills and technology expertise to solve hard customer problems, configure Air’s platform, communicate data‑driven insights to senior national‑security officials, and lead cross‑functional teams to produce program insights, visualizations, and briefings.

Responsibilities

• Develop expertise in Air’s clients, offerings, and data, serving as a product and data expert for customers.
• Execute successful software and data implementations for Air’s customers and provide platform training.
• Use coding languages (SQL, Python) to conduct technical platform configuration and data integration.
• Build and manage client relationships.
• Lead execution teams and/or workstreams.
• Collaborate with Air Engagement Managers and Product Managers to capture market demand and user needs for inclusion into Air’s offerings.
• Proactively drive product utilization through targeted training and engagement strategies that deliver mission outcomes and analytical insights.
• Develop and maintain documentation such as tailored user‑guide reference materials.
• Conduct research and develop quantitative analytic reports using Air technology and data.
• Orally and visually present data‑driven findings concisely to internal teams and government officials.
• Demonstrate knowledge of U.S. Government programs and operations, federal acquisitions and program management, procurement practices, supplier assurance, federal contracting, PPBE, supply‑chain risk management, and OSINT analysis.
• Provide technical workflow development and configuration (as applicable to background and expertise).
• Communicate data‑driven insights to executives in the national‑security space.
• Conduct in‑depth quantitative and qualitative analyses on national‑security problems using data visualization, written papers, and briefings.
• Provide product demonstrations in support of sales pursuits.
• Mentor team members to increase skill and domain expertise.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Political Science, International Security, Business Administration, Business Analytics, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field, or 6+ years of equivalent experience.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language (SQL, Python, or R) sufficient to independently write, debug, and adapt code in a client‑facing setting; familiarity with Excel, React, TypeScript, Java, C, or GoLang is a plus.
• 6–10 years of experience performing national‑security‑related analytics, with a preference for research, quantitative analysis, data manipulation, and data visualization.
• Knowledge of the defense acquisition life cycle, program management, technology scouting, and supply‑chain risk management.
• History of engaging with and presenting to federal government stakeholders.
• Professional demeanor and willingness to work outside of comfort zones in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong aptitude for solving open‑ended issues in unpredictable, unstructured environments.
• Outstanding listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple workstreams and projects, learn quickly, and work independently with minimal supervision.

Desired Skills

• Current U.S. security clearance or ability to obtain one with Air’s sponsorship.
• Experience or exposure to the nuances of a startup or entrepreneurial environment.
• Master’s degree in International Relations, Political Science, International Security, Business Administration, Business Analytics, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
• 3–7 years of experience in user support or user engagement focused on platform and product utilization.
• Experience with advisory services, SaaS, information services, analytic tools, or data‑analytics industries.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct business case studies and market analysis using internal and open‑source data sources.
