About the role

Join Boise Parks and Recreation as a Senior Ice Skating Instructor, where you'll teach youth and adults in a fun, supportive, and safe environment. Whether you're introducing beginners to the basics or helping skaters refine their skills, you'll create engaging lessons that make learning on the ice enjoyable for participants of all ages.

Responsibilities

  • Provides ice skating instructions and advice for groups.
  • Ensures a safe and effective learning environment for all participants.
  • Answers questions from participants and parents as required in accordance with City of Boise Policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be a U.S. Figure Skating Registered Coach through a recognized figure skating club or as an individual.
  • Must complete CER Class C within six months of date of hire.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years teaching experience within a U.S. Figure Skating Basic Skill Program or ISI weSKATE program.

Licensing and other requirements

  • U.S. Figure Skating Registered Coach Membership.

Special requirements

  • Applicants must be able to pass City of Boise background check processes which includes a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process Regulation.

  • Complete assignments in a timely fashion.

  • Maintain prompt and regular attendance.
  • Perform all essential and marginal functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without a reasonable accommodation.

  • Frequently lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds.
  • Rarely lifting/carrying up to 20 pounds.
  • Frequently pushing/pulling up to 10 pounds.
