Job Summary Our Financial Services client is seeking an experienced Senior IBM i / AS400 Developer to support and modernize an internal platform. This role will provide continuity for a business-critical application that supports authorization, business data management, transaction processing, and settlement operations. The ideal candidate is a senior hands-on engineer who can independently support complex IBM i / AS400 applications, quickly learn business-critical OTR processes, troubleshoot production issues under time-sensitive conditions, and contribute to modernization work without disrupting current operations. This person should be comfortable working with business stakeholders, legacy technology teams, infrastructure partners, and modernization delivery teams to protect platform stability and ensure continuity as Rick transitions out of the role. This position is W-2 only. We do not work with third-party firms or C2C arrangements for this role. Core ResponsibilitiesProvide production support and on-call coverage for internal applicationsSupport and enhance authorization, business data management, and settlement system capabilitiesAnalyze, troubleshoot, and resolve application defects, production issues, batch/process failures, data issues, and integration concernsDevelop, test, debug, and maintain clean, efficient, and reliable RPGLE, CL, and SQL-based solutionsSupport MQ connectivity, file transfers, certificate-related issues, deployment readiness, and environment stabilityLead or support project delivery from requirements through implementation, including estimation, design, development, testing, deployment, and post-production supportPartner with business stakeholders, technology teams, and cross-functional partners to define requirements and deliver reliable solutionsEnsure software changes meet quality, functionality, security, compliance, and operational standardsSupport CI/CD, GitLab, and ARCAD-based change management practices to improve release consistency, traceability, and deployment qualityMaintain documentation, support procedures, and operational knowledge needed for long-term platform sustainabilityShare application, platform, and business process knowledge with the team to reduce support risk and improve resiliencyRequired Skills/Experience (Must-Haves)10+ years of hands-on experience programming in RPGLE / Free Format RPG10+ years of experience with CL programming on IBM i / AS400 platformsStrong experience with screen and subfile developmentStrong working knowledge of embedded SQL within RPGLE applicationsHands-on experience using IBM Rational Developer for i (RDi)Experience supporting production applications in a business-critical environmentWorking knowledge of GitLab for source control, branching, merge requests, and deployment workflowsExperience using ARCAD change management software integrated with GitLabKnowledge of Connect:Direct file transfer processes and operational supportUnderstanding of digital certificates and secure application connectivityAbility to analyze authorization, business data management, settlement, batch, and integration processesPreferred Skills/Experience (Nice-to-Haves)Experience supporting modernization efforts involving legacy IBM i / AS400 applications and modern platformsUnderstanding of Redis-based caching patterns or data synchronization processesExperience with CI/CD automation practices for legacy and modernized application deliveryFamiliarity with disaster recovery exercises, outage recovery, and production resiliency practicesExperience working in environments with high transaction volume, settlement accuracy, and operational reliability requirementsAbility to mentor junior engineers and support knowledge transfer across the teamKey Competencies & BehaviorsOwnership & AccountabilityAnalytical Problem SolvingCollaboration & Knowledge SharingWork EnvironmentLocation: Hybrid - Twin Cities Hub or DenverHybrid: HybridCompensation & BenefitsPay Range: The approximate pay rate for this position is between $55.00 and $65.00.
