Patient/Customer
- Evaluate patients' progress and prepare reports detailing their progress.
- Test and evaluate patients' physical and mental abilities.
- Analyze medical data to determine realistic rehabilitation goals for patients.
- Select activities that help individuals learn work and life-management skills within their limits.
- Plan, organize, and conduct occupational therapy programs in various settings.
- Recommend changes in patients' work or living environments to accommodate their needs and capabilities.
- Consult with rehabilitation team to select activity programs and coordinate occupational therapy with other therapeutic activities.
- Help clients improve decision-making, abstract reasoning, memory, coordination, and perceptual skills using computer programs.
- Develop and participate in health promotion programs, group activities, or discussions to promote client health, facilitate social adjustment, alleviate stress, and prevent physical or mental disability.
- Supervise, train, and assess therapy students during onsite clinical affiliations.
- Initiate, facilitate, and moderate lab sessions for therapy students at area academic programs.
- Keep abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences.
Clinical Education
- Serves as fieldwork instructor (if student is available).
- Affords assistance with clinical education of students if not the primary FI Staff.
Operation
- Therapy Examination.
- Therapy Treatment Planning.
- Therapy Treatment Implementation.
- Applies the Principles of Logic & Scientific Method to the practice of OT.
- Full compliance with licensure requirements.
- Ethical & Legal Practice Standards.
- Therapy Documentation - Compliance Audits - Total of 2 charts reviewed in a quarter by Site Manager or senior therapist.
- Qualitative Chart Audit - At least 1 done per year.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy required.
- Master's Degree preferred.
- 2 years clinical experience required.
- Occupational Therapist license required.
- Basic Life Support / CPR, as a healthcare provider, per the American Heart Association required.
