About the role

The Senior Hybrid Azure Cloud Engineer will lead modernization efforts, focusing on automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and bringing DevOps capabilities to the team. They will handle complex incidents and escalations, monitor system performance, and mentor junior staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced Tier 3 technical infrastructure, DevOps, and engineering support for complex issues escalated from other teams.
  • Serve as a primary escalation point for Azure implementation-related challenges and complex incidents.
  • Lead modernization efforts, focusing on automation, IaC (Terraform, scripting), and bringing DevOps capabilities to the team.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize system performance to ensure uptime, reliability, and compliance with service level agreements.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure with Terraform, Ansible, or Azure Resource Manager templates.
  • Contribute to documentation, automation scripts, and internal knowledge sharing to drive continuous improvement.
  • Mentor junior staff and help move the team toward self-sufficiency and reduced reliance on engineering.
  • Participate in new feature development from an implementation perspective.

Requirements

  • Strong Windows Server administration, including Server OS, patching, file systems, and DFS.
  • Extensive hands-on expertise with Azure services such as Virtual Machines, Functions, Virtual Networks, Azure Active Directory, AKS, and Azure Synapse Analytics.
  • Infrastructure as Code experience with Terraform, Ansible, or ARM templates.
  • Proven automation and scripting skills in Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
  • In-depth understanding of hyperconverged technologies, networking, and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
  • Thorough knowledge of CI/CD tools like Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools such as Splunk, PagerDuty, or Azure portals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • 8+ years of cloud engineering experience, with at least 4 years working in Azure environments. Hands-on experience supporting Azure cloud environments in a hybrid model (on-premise and cloud) is required.

  • Azure Solutions Architect Expert or DevOps Engineer Expert certification.
  • Familiarity with other cloud platforms such as AWS or Google Cloud.
  • Experience leading and mentoring technical support teams.
  • Experience supporting Agile/Scrum development environments.
  • Experience with production readiness review processes.
