Responsibilities
- Supports daily operations and delivers comprehensive human resources services for the Division of Student Affairs (DSA).
- Manages a comprehensive human resources administration including training and development, recruitment, salary administration, and job evaluation with Compensation.
- Provides guidance and direction for the Division and its staff concerning personnel issues.
- Reviews and analyzes data to evaluate the effectiveness of existing HR processes and recommends improvements or actions as appropriate to HR Management.
- Designs and develops new HR processes to improve the efficiency of HR operations and administration and recommends new approaches/procedures to effect continual improvement of operations performed in the Division.
- Analyzes federal and state laws, and university regulations to ensure the Division's human resources programs are effective and consistent with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Performs data analysis, prepares reports and presentations for management. Investigates and resolves matters of significance on behalf of HR management.
- Serves as human resources consultant to faculty and staff on the student, non-student temporary, and Federal Work-Study (FWS) employees internal HR processes.
- Assists functional units with submitting change requests for student, non-student temporary, and FWS for various actions including but not limited to, change in allocations, reactivations, pay actions, job end date extensions, changes in supervisor, and terminations.
- Maintains the time limited appointment report and follows up with the appropriate parties to extend and/or separate employment for non-student temporary employees.
- Reviews valid and legible work authorization documents submitted in the I-9/E-Verify system to coordinate scheduling Student, FWS, and Temporary candidates for I-9 verification and E-Verify or sending to HR Service Center as applicable.
- Develops and delivers training and/or presentations on HR-related topics to support the training and development of new and existing DSA employees.
- Assists in Graduate Assistantship (GA) contract management, entering new contracts, updating/superseding contracts. Maintaining the index and GA contract employment agreements. Works with departments on all aspects of graduate assistantships.
- Serves as a human resources consultant to departments throughout the division regarding personnel transactions to include but not limited to, posting student job openings, and creating student job offer requests, as well as submits requests to post and hire non-student temporary and FWS.
- Aids in supervising HR student and/or FWS staff. Oversees calendars and scheduling of meetings for HR Management. Disseminates briefings to ensure fluid communications.
- Advises on Person of Interest (POI) requests for all units prior to their submission.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or as directed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of experience.
- Degree in Business or Human Resources.
- Prior experience working with PeopleSoft.
- Demonstrated experience establishing a proactive approach to customer service.
