About the role

The incumbent oversees the Human Resources function for the region, providing leadership, guidance, and counsel to the company’s field operations on company policies involving associate relations, compliance issues such as EEO, RIF’s, office closures, safety, health, and worker’s compensation matters.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and provide leadership to HR Business Partners.
  • Oversee the employment process and benefits administration for the region.
  • Escalate issues or problems as needed.
  • Assist managers in counseling and disciplining employees and provide guidance on the process and documentation of the same.
  • Coordinate, analyze, and provide information on any legal issues; handle all legal federal or state claims under the direction of Corporate Legal Counsel.
  • Assist in the training and development of regional management and staff; coordinate training initiatives with the Director, Associate Leadership and Development.
  • Coordinate all Human Resources activities involved in company acquisitions, including due diligence, analysis, orientation, and training to bring new employees onto the payroll system.
  • Recommend changes and/or new policies and procedures as needed; assist managers in following policies and procedures.
  • Participate in unemployment hearings as needed.
  • Coordinate, monitor, and review Performance Agreement procedures.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma/GED; Bachelor’s Degree; Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management or related field preferred.
  • Work Experience: Minimum 9+ years of experience in Human Resources Generalist management; SHRM designation preferred.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Knowledge of federal and state regulations relating to Human Resources, including Civil Rights Act/Title VII, ADA, FMLA, OSHA, Worker’s Compensation, and Equal Pay Act.
    • Ability to develop procedures manuals, employee handbooks, and company policies and procedures.
    • Computer literacy with experience working with word processing, spreadsheet, and graphical software.
    • Strong interpersonal and highly developed writing skills; acute attention to detail.
    • Excellent interpersonal organization, communication, and negotiation skills.
    • Ability to listen effectively and develop trust with the HR team and employees.
    • Some travel required.

Physical Requirements

  • Sit for extended periods (typically 6+ hours per day).
  • Use a computer, including keyboard and mouse, for prolonged periods.
  • Lift and carry light items (e.g., files, office supplies, laptops, typically 20+ pounds).
  • Reach, bend, or stoop occasionally to access files or office materials.
  • Maintain focus and attention for long periods of desk-based work.
  • Follow clear directions.
  • Perform repetitive motions (e.g., typing, clicking) consistently throughout the day.
