Senior HR Business Partner

About the role
This Sr HR Business Partner position is part of an Onsite HR Team with a particular focus on the delivery of a full spectrum of human resource programs. The role will provide HR leadership and guidance to the Contract Logistics/Solutions divisions in Texas, serving travel teams and based in one of our warehouse locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The Sr HRBP will oversee hiring, retention, termination, personnel records, legal compliance, compensation, benefits, payroll, orientation, and training, with a heightened focus on recruiting strategies and onboarding practices.
Responsibilities
- Implements, interprets, and administers personnel and labor relations programs, projects, tasks, or initiatives that align with company goals and objectives, including employment, employee relations, labor relations, compensation administration, performance management, benefits, recognition, training, and staffing requirements.
- Administers existing programs in accordance with policies and procedures, including Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action compliance.
- Manages and ensures compliance with company policies, practices, and procedures affecting the organizational unit, such as employee safety, workers’ compensation, and OSHA compliance.
- Provides leadership and guidance on workforce goals and objectives, sharing best practices with employees, peers, and management.
- Offers clear, effective, timely, and constructive feedback on interviewing techniques, labor relations, employee communications, new hire orientation, and training programs.
- Leads supervisory training, skill improvement, and excellence in supervision.
- Recruits, hires, trains, evaluates, and terminates assigned personnel.
- Manages human resource administration, including new hires, promotions, transfers, leaves of absence, grievance processes, and terminations, ensuring personnel files are properly maintained.
- Manages unit activities through frequent contact with inter-organizational and outside agency representatives concerning operations or scheduling of projects.
- Participates in meetings with internal and external representatives regarding human resource projects or operations, including due diligence and assimilation processes.
- Uses customer feedback to monitor project status and identify process improvements that enhance quality, quantity, and timeliness of tasks.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or a related field and 7 years of experience in the Human Resources field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Minimum 5 years of strong employee relations and performance management experience.
- Minimum 5 years of strong recruitment experience.
- Minimum 2 years of freight forwarding/Transportation industry experience or experience in a 4PL/Contract Logistics environment.
Skills
- Computer Skills: Strong proficiency in MS Office applications; experience using HRIS systems (SAP Success Factors preferred) and helpdesk ticket systems (Zendesk preferred).
- Language Skills: Proficiency in English (reading, writing, and verbal).
- Other Skills: General working knowledge of human resources, management, problem-solving, conflict resolution, consulting, decision-making, financial and analytical skills, and influence skills.
- Knowledge of ERISA, employment, and labor laws and regulations.
- Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills with the ability to motivate others.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with enthusiasm, initiative, and creativity.
- Attention to detail, ability to work under pressure, and prioritize tasks.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations with compassion and dignity.
- Ability to deal with ambiguity, cope with change, and remain flexible with shifting priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Change management experience.
- Project management experience.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).
- Recognized HR Professional Certification (SHRM preferred).
Physical Demands
- Work is generally sedentary but may require occasional standing, walking, or lifting for everyday activities.
- Extensive hours and occasional staggered shifts for multi-shift access.
- Use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or crouch; talk or hear.
- Use of computer and telephone equipment.
- Specific vision requirements include close and distance vision.
Work Environment
- Rare exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic, or caustic chemicals.
- Noise level is usually low to moderate.
Schedule
Onsite role based in Lancaster, Texas (Lyndon B. Johnson Freeway) with up to 30% domestic travel, generally by airplane.
Pay
Expected base pay range is $80,000.00 – $95,000.00 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location.
