Senior Highway Engineer

About the Role

RS&H is seeking a Senior Highway Engineer to join our infrastructure team in Tallahassee with a hybrid in-office and remote schedule. In this role, you will serve as a team expert and/or project lead, preparing project specifications, complete project documents, analysis, and reports. Responsibilities include:

• Analyzing and interpreting data for design, planning, and impact studies, as well as cost analyses, design requirements, site selection, and limited design layouts.
• Designing complete projects, systems, components, and/or processes.
• Preparing project documents, engineering analysis, and reports.
• Performing quality control reviews and ensuring achievement of key milestones.
• Conducting field reviews and observations of ongoing construction projects.
• Providing technical guidance and assigning tasks to junior and support staff for project duration.
• Managing discipline and small multidisciplinary teams to ensure company and project contractual compliance.
• Managing a small team of direct reports.

Requirements

• Degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program and 10 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Professional engineer in good standing.
• Knowledgeable of applicable federal, state, and local codes, criteria, regulations, and ordinances.
• Proficient in production software and construction document production.
• Proven ability to address challenging or potentially controversial issues in a sound professional and business-like manner.
• Experience working on parts of major projects or multiple moderate-size projects, providing technical guidance to junior-level staff, including reviewing others' work for technical accuracy.
• Experience participating in the design and implementation of new services, processes, standards, and/or operational plans with significant impact on functional results.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to effectively interact with and build strong relationships with clients, customers, contractors, team members, and other key stakeholders.
