Triumvirate Environmental, one of the largest environmental services firms in North America, is seeking a Senior Hazardous Waste Operations Supervisor for our Casa Grande, AZ team. This role oversees fuels blending, lab pack decommissioning/repackaging, and hazardous waste solid consolidation activities at our facility. The ideal candidate will work alongside our Plant Manager to optimize safety, compliance, and hazardous waste throughput.
About the role
This position reports to the Plant Manager and is onsite at our Casa Grande, AZ facility. The role includes rotating on-call responsibilities as part of our Emergency Response team and is considered safety-sensitive.
Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day operations of hazardous waste activities, including:
- Fuels blending
- Lab pack decommissioning/repackaging
- Hazardous waste solids consolidation
- Management of gas cylinders
- Management of oxidizers and reactive waste materials
- Assist in developing and implementing operational strategies to optimize processes.
- Lead, train, and mentor staff to foster a high-performance culture.
- Ensure all areas of oversight meet quality and regulatory standards.
- Work alongside the Plant Manager to implement quality control measures.
- Collaborate with Environmental, Health, and Safety personnel to develop and enforce safety protocols.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels of incoming and outgoing hazardous waste materials.
- Evaluate and enhance existing processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and minimize environmental impact.
- Establish relationships with downstream kilns and rail operators.
- Oversee rail-related logistics activities.
- Ensure all operations comply with permitted activities, regulations, and standard operating procedures.
- Recommend hires and retain employees.
- Analyze and assess industry and market trends.
- Build relationships with local and state agencies (fire department, health department, licensing bureaus, Department of Environmental Quality, etc.).
- Develop technical expertise and knowledge of the company’s hazardous waste management programs.
- Share recommendations with the Plant Manager for new products, services, and areas of optimization.
Requirements
- 5-10+ years’ experience within the hazardous fuels operations industry.
- Specific experience importing/exporting hazardous fuels waste between Mexico and the United States.
- Proven experience in a managerial role with strong leadership and team-building skills.
- In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and quality control processes.
- Strategic, rail transportation, planning, warehousing, and rail logistics skills.
- Bilingual in English & Spanish preferred.
- Expertise in all MS Suite applications with strong Excel skills.
- Excellent math skills.
- 40-hour OSHA Hazwoper Certification with current 8-hour refresher.
- D.O.T. Hazardous Materials Training.
- Able to obtain and maintain a forklift license.
- Personality conducive to teamwork.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without future sponsorship.
- Must have a reliable form of transportation.
- Must consent to Motor Vehicle Record screening, criminal background check, pre-employment physical, and drug screen (inclusive of THC).
- Must participate in a random drug screening program (inclusive of THC) upon employment.
- Must be able to lift 60 pounds on a regular basis.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours within the work week (Monday through Friday).
- Must be able to report to the designated office within 1 hour during Emergency Response rotating shifts.
- Frequently handles hazardous chemicals and biological waste; responsible for donning and doffing personal protective equipment.
