About the role

We are seeking a Senior Hardware Development Engineer to join a collaborative team developing advanced industrial automation and control systems. This role will support the full hardware product development lifecycle, including circuit design, prototype development, hardware testing, verification, troubleshooting, documentation, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop hardware for new industrial automation and control products, including system architecture and hardware verification.
  • Program, analyze, test, and troubleshoot electronic hardware prototypes.
  • Read and interpret schematics and apply circuit theory to solve complex hardware issues.
  • Develop product design documentation, test plans, and technical reports.
  • Use laboratory test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, debuggers, and other electronic test equipment.
  • Support and implement test automation and design simulation efforts.
  • Research and evaluate new technologies, design tools, and hardware development methodologies.
  • Troubleshoot hardware failures and lead technical initiatives to improve product performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Contribute to an Agile development environment and engineering best practices.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in cross-functional hardware/product development.
  • Strong understanding of circuit theory and electronic hardware design.
  • Experience with design capture tools and schematic development.
  • Knowledge of microprocessors, digital logic, analog circuits, DC power conversion, CPLDs, and/or FPGAs.
  • Hands-on experience with electronic test equipment, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and debuggers.
  • Experience with industrial control systems, PLCs, and/or functional safety design preferred.
  • Familiarity with IEC 61508, IEC 61000, EMC, or other applicable safety/regulatory standards preferred.
  • Experience working in a scaled Agile environment preferred.
  • Strong communication, documentation, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership, mentor others, and work effectively within a collaborative engineering team.
  • U.S. work authorization required; no current or future sponsorship available.
