Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end hardware development including requirements capture, architecture, schematic design, PCB layout coordination, and design for manufacturability focused on RF and mixed-signal systems.
- Create and review PCB layouts for high-speed and mixed-signal designs, enforce stackup, routing, and grounding best practices, and work with PCB fabricators and assembly partners.
- Develop and execute test plans, perform bench validation and characterization using oscilloscopes, VNAs, spectrum analyzers, and other lab equipment; capture and analyze measurement data to drive design improvements.
- Debug prototypes and production units, perform root-cause analysis, implement corrective actions, and support yield and reliability improvements.
- Work closely with firmware and FPGA engineers to define interfaces (Ethernet, serial communication, high-speed serializers/deserializers) and support integration and bring-up activities.
- Drive design reviews, document design decisions, produce datasheets/BOMs, and maintain thorough design documentation to meet regulatory and quality requirements.
- Mentor and coach junior engineers, provide technical leadership across projects, and collaborate with program managers to meet schedules and deliverables.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 7+ years of hands-on hardware engineering experience with demonstrated ownership of product development life cycle.
- Proven experience in RF systems design and PCB design (schematic capture and layout), with an understanding of RF components and transmission-line principles.
- Strong skills in analog and digital circuit design, mixed-signal systems, and high-speed design principles (signal integrity, power integrity, grounding, and shielding).
- Proficient with simulation and design tools such as SPICE, ADS, HFSS, or similar; PCB tools such as Altium, Cadence Allegro, or Mentor Graphics.
- Hands-on lab experience with oscilloscopes, network/spectrum analyzers, VNAs, power supplies, and lab instrumentation for characterization and debugging.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills; experience leading design reviews and collaborating across disciplines.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Ethernet, serial communication protocols (UART, SPI, I2C), FPGA integration, mixers, amplifiers, oscillators, electronic circuit prototyping, and experience addressing high-speed and mixed-signal layout challenges.
- Familiarity with EMC/EMI mitigation and regulatory compliance.
