Senior Groundwater Modeler / Hydrogeologist
About the role
In this position, you’ll collaborate with senior modelers on hydrodynamic, sediment transport, and water-quality projects. Your work will help assess thermal impacts, pathogens, biochemical oxygen demand, dissolved oxygen, nutrients, algae, and organic or metal contamination in lakes, rivers, estuaries, and coastal waters.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate environmental data and set up, execute, and quality-check mathematical models.
- Participate in project meetings, proposal preparation, report writing, and presentations.
- Develop statistical and graphical comparisons of model results and field data.
- Perform other duties as needed, including field tasks such as drilling, well installation, slug tests, and pump tests in consolidated and unconsolidated formations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering/science, oceanography, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in hydrodynamic or water-quality modeling projects.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills (oral and written).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Self-motivated, able to work independently and collaboratively within project teams.

Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience as a hydrogeologist or closely aligned profession (advanced degrees may substitute for experience).
- Experience conducting contaminated site investigations, including sample collection and analysis of soil, groundwater, surface water, and sediment.
- Experience preparing groundwater monitoring reports and evaluating laboratory analytical data.
- Knowledge of conceptual site models and ability to identify data gaps for field investigation scoping.
- Professional Geologist (PG) or Certified Professional Geologist (CPG) certification.
- Experience with Federal environmental regulations (CCR, CERCLA, RCRA, CWA, CAA, etc.).
- Experience on Coal Combustion Residual (CCR) projects involving groundwater monitoring, statistical analysis, site characterization, and corrective measures.
- Familiarity with boring log digitization software (e.g., gINT, OpenGround) and hydrogeological tools (e.g., Surfer, Aqtesolv).
- Willingness to perform physically demanding tasks in adverse conditions (rugged terrain, remote locations, extreme temperatures).
- OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER Certification and MSHA training (a plus).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Local candidates in the Greater Philadelphia area preferred.
