Senior Grant Accountant – Finance/Administration Workgroup
About the role
LAFLA is a nonprofit law firm dedicated to increasing access to justice and addressing systemic inequities in the Greater Los Angeles area. The Senior Grant Accountant position reports to the Chief Financial Officer.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for grant and contract billing and collections
- Responsible for grant and contract financial reporting to funders and management
- Responsible for sub-recipient monitoring
- Aid with grant budgets and projections
- Prepare and input journal entries
- Prepare and maintain cash receipts, prepaid expense and deferred revenue schedules
- Prepare general ledger account analyses as required
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly variance analyses as required
- Assist the CFO and Accounting Manager with special projects and research as required
Requirements
- Strong accounting skills and knowledge of GAAP
- Strong Excel skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong initiative and problem-solving skills
- Practical experience with fund accounting and cost allocation
- Experience with Abila MIP-fund accounting software preferred
- Minimum 4 years accounting experience
- Minimum 4 years of government grant billing experience
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience in a nonprofit setting preferred
- College degree in accounting preferred
Qualifications
- Willingness to work beyond a minimum 7.5/7.0-hour workday to ensure project completion

Pay
$82,500k – $110,000k / annually DOE, with excellent benefits

Sustainable Hybrid Work Schedule
LAFLA has recently adopted a sustainable schedule whereby employees get several Fridays off during the year. Depending on job classifications, some LAFLA staff are working on a manager approved hybrid work schedule, with the ability to work remotely up to half the week, if preferred, after the probationary period. The successful candidate must be local and willing to work from the assigned LAFLA location.
