About the role
Lime is seeking a Global Trade Compliance Manager to lead the development and execution of the company's international trade compliance program. This role supports global expansion, manages regulatory risk, and builds scalable compliance processes.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and continuously improve a global trade compliance program aligned with high-growth, multi-market operations
- Ensure compliance with import/export regulations across key regions (e.g., EU, US, APAC), including customs, sanctions, and export controls
- Classify micromobility products (e-scooters, e-bikes, IoT devices, spare parts, and lithium-ion batteries) using HS codes and determine duties and tariffs
- Oversee compliance related to the international movement of lithium-ion batteries, including hazardous materials (dangerous goods) regulations (IATA, IMDG, ADR)
- Manage export control processes, including licensing requirements for embedded software, GPS/IoT components, and encryption technologies
- Partner closely with Supply Chain, Logistics, Hardware, Legal, and Operations teams to ensure compliant and efficient global distribution
- Support market entry into new countries by assessing trade compliance requirements and regulatory barriers
- Provide detailed analytics around business financial impacts for global duties and tariffs for financial planning and budgeting
- Manage Duty Drawback and Tariff refund processes
- Maintain relationships with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and relevant government authorities
- Set scalable methods for classification, compliance workflows, and audit readiness across key markets
- Influence cross-functional decisions by translating regulatory requirements into clear business trade-offs (e.g., cost, speed, risk)
- Lead investigations and resolution of compliance issues, disclosures, or audits
- Develop and deliver training programs for internal stakeholders across global teams
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain, Law, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- 6–10+ years of experience in global trade compliance, ideally within hardware, mobility, automotive, or consumer electronics industries
- Strong knowledge of customs regulations, export controls, and sanctions regimes across multiple jurisdictions
- Direct experience handling battery shipments and dangerous goods compliance strongly preferred
- Familiarity with trade compliance systems and ERP platforms
- Professional certifications (e.g., Licensed Customs Broker, CCS, or equivalent) are a plus
