Senior Global Recruiter

RemoteRemoteHuman ResourcesFull-time

Oyster is building a global employment platform that lets companies hire, pay, and care for brilliant people anywhere. We're a fully distributed team across 60+ countries, recognized as a top WorkTech company, a leading startup workplace, and the only B Corp-certified global employment platform.

About the role

We're hiring a Senior Global Recruiter on a 12-month fixed-term contract to help us attract and hire senior talent across Product, Operations, Finance & Accounting, Legal & Compliance, and customer-facing teams. This is a truly global role with full-cycle ownership—from sourcing to offer—across EMEA, LATAM, and North America. You'll partner with senior leaders to shape roles, challenge assumptions, and maintain a high bar for quality, all while building the systems and automations that make it possible.

This role is fully remote, open to candidates in EMEA, Canada, or the US East Coast. You'll need working-day overlap with both EMEA and North America (UTC +2 / -5).

Responsibilities

  • Own full-cycle recruitment for experienced-hire searches across Product, Operations, Finance & Accounting, Legal & Compliance, and customer-facing teams—sourcing, assessment, offer, and close.
  • Partner with hiring managers as an advisor: scope and calibrate roles, set assessment approaches, and push back with evidence when the brief and market don’t align.
  • Hire genuinely global talent across EMEA, LATAM, and North America, adapting strategy and process to each market rather than exporting a single playbook.
  • Build pipelines that don’t rely on inbound: market mapping, direct outreach, community and referral routes, and talent pooling for repeat needs.
  • Own candidate experience end-to-end: clear communication, honest feedback, and a process people speak well of, whether or not they get the job. Educate candidates about Oyster’s mission and journey.
  • Run your own recruiting operations in Ashby without sourcing or coordinator support, keeping data clean and actionable for reporting.
  • Use AI and automation to improve workflows—sourcing, outreach, interview intelligence, ATS agents, and reporting—and share insights with the team.

Requirements

  • Significant experience recruiting experienced and senior hires as an in-house, senior recruiter.
  • Hypergrowth tech or SaaS experience: you’ve recruited inside a VC-backed, globally distributed technology business at scale-up stage.
  • Depth in hiring Operations (our biggest need), Finance, and Legal & Compliance. Bonus if you have experience hiring senior Product roles.
  • Multi-region recruiting experience, with a real understanding of how markets differ, including comp norms, notice periods, and candidate expectations across EMEA and the Americas.
  • Full recruiting cycle autonomy: you’ve owned searches end-to-end without a sourcer or coordinator.
  • Hands-on ATS ownership: you’ve managed pipeline, reporting, and data hygiene in Ashby or an equivalent ATS, using data to spot stalling searches.
  • Senior stakeholder credibility: you can advise, challenge, and influence directors and VPs, holding your position when it matters.
  • Strong talent-partnering skills with senior leaders and a high bar for candidate experience, balancing quality with speed.
  • Real, current use of AI or automation in recruiting workflows to improve productivity.
  • Demonstrated accountability in a remote-first environment and excellent written/async communication skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience building Ashby agents.
  • Global Product hiring experience.
  • APAC market experience.
  • Sourcing approaches beyond inbound and referrals—communities, mapping, unconventional channels.
  • Experience transitioning from agency or RPO to in-house recruiting.

Notes

  • This is a 12-month fixed-term contract with no guarantee of extension, but it offers a senior remit with real ownership from day one.
  • There’s no recruitment coordinator—you’ll manage your own scheduling and process via Ashby automations.
  • We’re in the middle of a transformation, so some processes are still being rebuilt. If you need a settled environment, this may not be the right fit.
  • Global hiring means early or late calls some weeks and a lot of context-switching.

This might not be right for you if

  • You prefer a narrowly scoped recruiting remit rather than full-cycle ownership.
  • You’re uncomfortable challenging or advising senior stakeholders directly.
  • You have limited exposure to global recruiting or time-zone-heavy collaboration.
  • You’re less comfortable operating with pace, ambiguity, and evolving business needs.
  • Improving systems and processes alongside day-to-day work feels like a distraction.

Requirements for the role

  • A reliable home internet connection.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.

Benefits

  • Work from anywhere: No borders or HQ. Work from anywhere as long as your team is supported and you’re authorized to work locally.
  • Paid time off: 40 days off per year (including holidays and vacation), or more if required by your country.
  • Mental health support: Access to Plumm, our mental well-being service.
  • Wellbeing allowance: Monthly allowance via ThanksBen to spend on wellness options.
  • Flexible parental leave: At least three months’ paid leave for all new parents, with job protection for up to 12 months or as required locally.
  • WFH stipend: Stipend for laptop and home office equipment.

How we work together

Our values guide our work, decisions, and culture. We make it happen—progress is our default. We drive change, build and give trust, and move as one united team. Our mission is to create a more equal world of work, and everything we do ladders up to that. We embrace async, collaborative work and share our practices publicly so other global teams can learn from us.
