About the role
The Senior GL Accountant IV is a key individual contributor responsible for executing complex general ledger accounting processes and supporting accurate, GAAP-compliant financial reporting on the expense side of the business. This role partners with the Accounting Manager and cross-functional teams to maintain the integrity of the general ledger, own balance sheet reconciliations, and ensure timely and accurate close deliverables.
Responsibilities
- Lead month-end and quarter-end close activities for assigned expense and corporate accounting areas, ensuring the timely, accurate, and complete recording of financial results.
- Serve as the primary owner of complex balance sheet account reconciliations, ensuring compliance with company policies, robust supporting documentation, and timely resolution of reconciling items.
- Review, prepare, and approve journal entries related to expense accruals, prepaid assets, reallocations, reserves, and other significant accounting transactions.
- Oversee the expense accrual process for assigned functions, partnering with business leaders and finance stakeholders to identify, evaluate, and accurately record period-end obligations.
- Perform detailed variance and flux analyses, identifying key business drivers, emerging trends, and accounting impacts while providing actionable insights to Accounting leadership and FP&A partners.
- Analyze complex expense transactions and accounting matters to ensure proper recognition, classification, and compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal accounting policies.
- Apply and interpret accounting guidance, including ASC 420, ASC 450, and other relevant standards, to complex business transactions and accounting events, exercising independent judgment and recommending appropriate accounting treatment.
- Partner with Accounting Management to research technical accounting matters, prepare accounting position documentation, and support the implementation of new accounting guidance and policies.
- Act as a key point of contact for internal and external audit activities, coordinating audit requests, preparing supporting schedules, and addressing auditor inquiries related to assigned accounting areas.
- Proactively identify accounting risks, control gaps, and process inefficiencies, recommending and implementing sustainable solutions to strengthen controls and improve operational effectiveness.
- Lead process improvement initiatives focused on standardization, automation, scalability, and enhanced financial reporting quality across the accounting function.
- Develop, maintain, and continuously enhance accounting procedures, policies, and process documentation to support operational excellence and knowledge transfer.
- Support the design, execution, and monitoring of internal controls, ensuring compliance with GAAP, SOX requirements, and company policies.
- Build strong cross-functional partnerships with Finance, FP&A, Operations, Procurement, HR, and other business stakeholders to provide accounting guidance and support strategic business initiatives.
- Provide mentorship, guidance, and subject matter expertise to less experienced accounting team members, supporting their development and promoting consistency in accounting practices.
- Lead or participate in special projects, system implementations, organizational initiatives, and other strategic accounting priorities as assigned by Accounting leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 3–5+ years of relevant accounting experience
- Experience with general ledger accounting and balance sheet reconciliations
- Public accounting experience
- Up to 15% travel annually (if not local to Denver, CO)
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA
- Experience with a leading global accounting firm (e.g., Big 4)
- SaaS or subscription-based business experience
- Experience with Oracle
- Experience with Claude and/or AI tools
- Local to the Denver Area

Estimated salary range: $91,000 - $121,000
