The Finance team at Cupertino Electric, Inc. (CEI) provides employees, stakeholders, and customers with timely and accurate financial information. The Finance Department is comprised of six teams: Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Billing, Collections, Payroll, and Tax that work closely together to ensure compliance and the financial well-being of the company.
About the Role
The Senior GL Accountant will work closely with the rest of the Accounting team, Finance group, Tax department, and Project Management when required.
- Manage the month and year-end close process including general journal entries on accruals, prepaid, fixed assets, cash receipts, and cash disbursements.
- Prepare the balance sheet accounts reconciliations.
- Prepare month-end financial statements.
- Coordinate with the Asset Manager to ensure assets are properly recorded.
- Collaborate with other departments including IT, Billing, AP, and Tax to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Create and implement policies and procedures to identify, resolve, and document accounting issues, as well as improve the efficiency and accuracy of the close, reporting, and business processes.
- Review monthly accounting close processes including analytical review of the monthly operating results to ensure accurate accounting records are maintained.
- Analyze month-end results.
- Assist with various aspects of external audits, including preparation of audit schedules and reviewing outstanding items lists.
Requirements
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and customer service skills.
- Detail-oriented with a sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work with interruptions.
- Ability to take full ownership of tasks while helping others when appropriate.
- Excellent MS Excel skills and ERP experience required; JD Edwards preferred.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required.
- CPA preferred.
- 5 years of proven experience in the accounting industry, preferably in the areas of manufacturing and/or construction.
Pay
Salary Range: $110,000 to $135,000
