About the role
The Senior Geotechnical/Foundation Engineer will be expected to:
- Lead geotechnical site investigations, including the planning and supervision of boreholes, test pits, and in-situ testing for building foundations, heavy vehicle pavement areas, and EV charging infrastructure.
- Assess critical cold-climate soil conditions, including seasonal frost depth, frost susceptibility, groundwater regimes, and the presence of swelling or compressible soils specific to the mountain climate of the project location.
- Oversee laboratory testing programs (e.g., grain size, Atterberg limits, Proctor, CBR, triaxial/UU) and pavement deflection testing to derive accurate, reliable design parameters.
- Develop comprehensive geotechnical design reports and provide actionable recommendations for subgrade treatment, frost-protection insulation layers, foundation types, bearing capacities, and groundwater management measures.
- Carefully coordinate multidisciplinary integration, working closely with structural, civil, and pavement engineers to ensure foundation and earthwork designs safely support heavy loads (e.g., depot crane beams, battery storage rooms) and withstand freeze-thaw cycles.
- Prepare tender-ready deliverables, including geotechnical baseline reports, technical specifications, and BOQ inputs for the Detailed Engineering Design (DED) packages, ensuring full alignment with local codes and international best practices.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a closely related field (Master’s degree is a plus).
- Experience: Minimum 8 years of experience in geotechnical investigations and foundation design for civil or transport infrastructure projects. Proven experience in soil analysis, site investigations, and ground improvement methods is required.
- Technical skills: Demonstrated expertise in cold-climate geotechnical engineering, frost-protection design, pavement subgrade analysis, and proficiency in geotechnical design software. Familiarity with local building codes (e.g., SNiP/SP) and international standards (e.g., Eurocode, ASTM) is highly preferred.
- Soft skills: Excellent analytical, communication, and reporting skills in English; strong ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team and provide clear, practical engineering solutions to complex site challenges.

Schedule
- Project-based, 12 months total project duration with an input of 3 person-months dedicated to the Detailed Engineering Design (DED) phase.
