About the role

Terracon is seeking an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Team in the Gulf Coast Region! This role will sit in our Mobile, AL office.

Responsibilities

  • Lead geotechnical investigations, analysis, and design across transportation, energy, industrial, and public infrastructure projects.
  • Serve as a technical authority, ensuring quality, safety, and performance while guiding teams through complex challenges.
  • Build strong client relationships, support proposals and business development, and mentor junior staff to strengthen technical capability and team performance.
  • Provide engineering and consulting services for a broad array of projects and clients, including performing and/or leading field investigations, engineering analysis, calculations, and recommendations, design and development of plans and specifications, observation and inspection, and the writing, preparation, and review of related reports for the services provided.
  • Review drawings and construction to assure compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Prepare proposals and cost estimates, track and evaluate project progress, budgets, and recommend changes.
  • Research and resolve design and construction problems.
  • Assign, review, and evaluate laboratory or field data for inclusion in reports.
  • Apply sound engineering principles and communicate complex engineering issues and concepts to technical and non-technical clients and project teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Engineering Intern (EI) required and ability to obtain a registration as a Professional Engineer (PE).
  • A valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history may be required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Engineering preferred, but not required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration preferred, but not required.
