Our client is a nationally recognised geotechnical, environmental and construction materials consulting firm seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join its rapidly expanding Pittsburgh operation. Backed by a 600‑plus person engineering platform, the firm has a four‑decade reputation as a respected privately owned consulting firm.
The Pittsburgh office is a key growth initiative, having evolved from a one‑person operation to a nine‑person regional team that supports clients throughout Western Pennsylvania and surrounding markets. The office emphasizes autonomy, allowing experienced professionals to make decisions, build relationships, solve problems and take ownership without excessive bureaucracy.
Project exposure spans a diverse range of private‑sector developments, including data centres, mission‑critical facilities, energy infrastructure, oil & gas projects, renewable energy developments, industrial facilities, manufacturing projects, distribution and logistics centres, and commercial land development.
Responsibilities
- Lead geotechnical investigations and engineering studies.
- Review technical reports and recommendations.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Manage client relationships and project delivery.
- Support strategic growth initiatives across the region.
- Contribute to technical excellence and operational development.
Requirements
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- 8+ years of geotechnical engineering experience.
- Strong technical understanding of site investigations, foundations, and geotechnical design.
- Experience managing projects and interacting with clients.
- Interest in mentoring and supporting junior engineers.
- Ambition to play a larger role in a growing business.
